Today, on the International Day of Democracy, we reflect on the vital role democracy plays in ensuring freedom, equality, and justice for all. Democracy is more than just a system of governance, it’s a commitment to safeguarding the rights of every individual, ensuring that every voice is heard, and creating a society where inclusivity, participation, and transparency thrive.🌎🕊️ Stand for equality, fairness, and justice. #EveryVoiceCounts.
Democracy enables people to have a say in their futures. Everyone should be able to meaningfully participate in decisions that will affect their lives now and in years to come. Sunday’s International Day of Democracy “is an opportunity to reinforce the importance of upholding free speech, civil liberties, and the rule of law, ensuring accountable institutions and protecting and promoting human rights,” said UN Secretary-General António Guterres. On #LiteracyDay, we celebrate literacy as a fundamental human right and a key to unlocking understanding and peace. 🌍📚 Let’s continue to champion the power of education for all.
Learning how to read & write should be a significant milestone for everyone. Yet, 754 million adults & young people lack basic literacy skills. Illiteracy makes it difficult to acquire basic skills & prevents people from fully participating in their communities & societies. 🇦🇪Today, on Emirati Women’s Day, we celebrate the remarkable achievements of Emirati women who have been at the forefront of progress and innovation. 🌟 This day was established in 2015 by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and Mother of the Nation. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to have worked with inspiring Emirati women through our collaboration with the General Women's Union during COP 28, under the esteemed patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Mother of the Nation, and Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi. Together, we showcased the transformative impact of Emirati women in sustainability and global leadership through the UAE Chapter of “17 Faces of Action.” Emirati women continue to be an endless source of inspiration for our association and for people everywhere. We look forward to future opportunities to work together and make a lasting impact. Let’s continue to champion gender equality and empowerment for a brighter, more sustainable future. 🌍💪 #EmiratiWomensDay #GenderEquality #COP28
