🚀 From Award-Winning Seatbacks to Series Vehicles: Bcomp’s Winning Season and Vision for 2025 As we step into 2025, we are reflecting on an extraordinary year of growth, innovation and milestones. Over the past twelve months, Bcomp closed a successful CHF 36M Series C funding round and scaled up in the very competitive automotive industry while introducing innovative solutions across motorsports, recreational, infrastructure, and mass mobility sectors. With a promising new year dawning, our CEO and co-founder, Christian Fischer, reflected on some of the biggest successes and challenges. His highlights of the year include: 🏁 Motorsports success Our bio-based composites culminated with the NASCAR’s battery EV prototype marking our US market entry, as well as the technical materials’ use in Škoda, Toyota Hilux race cars, and Super Formula’s autonomous race cars. 🚗 From concept cars for consumers to serial production cars The technology transfer from race to road vehicles is alive and well, from concept cars for consumers with KIA, Škoda, and Italdesign, to series applications like the bio-based seatback produced by Sabelt for the CUPRA Born VZ. ⛷️Extending into sports equipment production Our #ampliTex technology has demonstrated its versatility by reducing vibrations and improving performances for both the ITACA bike from MCipollini and DMT Cycling, as well as Movement’s SEQUENCE Series skis. 🥇 Award-winning collaboration and certification The BMW M Visionary Materials Seat, featuring our flax-based materials, won the prestigious Altair Enlighten Award, reflecting our mission to decarbonise the automotive industry. 2024 also marked a milestone as we achieved the B Lab Corp certification, solidifying our dedication to making a positive impact on the world. Reflecting on our journey, Christian Fischer, shared: "It’s never easy leading change, but we are providing a proven, commercially viable path away from a linear model of consumption towards more sustainable manufacturing and goods, especially in the traditionally petroleum-dependent automotive sector. As we scale, we have gained significant ground on the incredibly entrenched supply chains for conventional materials like plastic, glass, and carbon fibre." As we enter 2025, our commitment remains firm – to collaborate, innovate, and scale up solutions that enable industries to decarbonise without compromising performance. This journey would not be possible without our incredible team, partners and customers who share our vision to decarbonise the world. “Decarbonisation is imperative for our future” – Transforming automotive design with natural fibre composites At Bcomp, sustainability and innovation are leveraged through high-performance flax-based composites that reduce the impact on the environment. But none of this would have been possible without the strong collaborations that have driven our journey. The latest JEC Group Magazine article highlights how our materials are redefining vehicle design process, thanks to a close collaboration with our long-standing partners, BMW i Ventures and BMW Group. Key highlights from the interview to explore: ‣ Reducing CO₂ footprint’ vs standard materials Bcomp’s #ampliTex and #powerRibs achieve a CO₂ footprint significantly lower than carbon while maintaining comparable stiffness and weight ‣  Decarbonising vehicle manufacturing and beyond “We believe that with Bcomp, we have found a technology that can help us decarbonise composites by using natural rather than carbon fibres,” said Marcus Behrendt, Managing Director of BMW i Ventures. “Composite materials are generally very versatile as a result of their lightweight, stiffness and durability, making them essential accross many markets”. ‣  Proven performance and scalability “We have been in close contact with Bcomp for 5 years now and have built up extensive experience with natural fibre components,” stated Thomas Reisch, Head of Innovation and Transformation Program for Body and Interior at BMW Group M GmbH. “For the BMW Group, natural fibres are a sustainable composite material that has immense potential for wider use in series production.” But before seeking to use them in mass production, Bcomp’s materials were tested on the racetrack. “In 2019, we started with a Bcomp component in Formula E. In 2022, Bcomp our official BMW M Motorsport partner. In the BMW M4 GT4 racing series we now use many components made from natural fibres, both on the interior and exterior. Racing is the ultimate endurance test, and these natural fibre components have passed with flying colours!” 🔗 Read the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/g72xrtCE   Christian Fischer | Per Mårtensson | Johann Wacht #SustainableLightweighting #NautalFibres #Bcomp #BMWiVentures #BMW
