Each year, we connect startup projects (University of Zurich Entrepreneur Fellows, BEIprogram alumni) with creative talent to help communicate breakthrough innovations. A few months ago, we shared how Lena Hochhuth, Aimée Martinez, @Jana Willimann , and @Tim Jenny worked with Antonis Katsoulas (@Innunity) to create visualizations explaining their innovative Multiple Sclerosis (MS) medication, and we're still so proud of what they achieved. 🌿🎨 We're super happy to see these results and the hard work being it showcased again, this time by Hochparterre 💡: Key takeaways from the article: ⭐ Science meets design: The team brilliantly visualized how Innunity's drug works to protect nerves from MS in a clear, patient-friendly way. 🎯 ⭐ Real impact: These visuals will help MS patients and their families understand how the drug protects nerves and slows disease progression. 🌿 ⭐ Collaboration and creativity: The project was a mix of science, design, and patient-centered research, balancing abstraction and realism. 🤝 A huge thank you to these brilliant students and UZH Entrepreneur Fellow Antonis Katsoulas for this incredible work! 🌞 Day 8 Highlights from the BEI Program—Learning, Collaboration, and Sunshine! 🌞 Yesterday, we were fortunate to have Petra Hillmann and Annalisa Macagno lead an insightful session on #regulatoryaffairs in #biotech, #pharma, and #medtech. Discussions focused on: 📋 Regulatory Affairs Overview: A closer look at the essential role of regulations in ensuring drug and device safety. ⚠️ Why Regulations Matter: Learning from the past with cases like sulfamide and thalidomide, highlighting the need for stringent oversight. 🎯 Key Skills: Success in regulatory affairs requires mastering both scientific detail and navigating global frameworks like the FDA and EMA. 🚀 Startup Challenges: Balancing regulatory complexities with the agility needed in startup environments. 🔗 Clinical & Regulatory Strategy: Aligning clinical trials with regulatory submissions for faster, smoother market entry. Participants split into biotech/pharma with Petra and medtech with Annalisa, diving into regulatory roadmaps and asking great questions. And let’s not forget the sunshine! 📣 Deep Dive into Day 7 of our BioEntrepreneurship & Innovation (BEI) program! 🚀 Today was packed with incredible insights thanks to our special guest, Michio Painter, PhD, Head Translational Medicines Accelerator (tma), who generously shared stories from his own entrepreneurial journey and extensive experience working with startups and innovative projects. 🔍Understanding customer needs: - Michio shared strategies for identifying and segmenting potential customers - We explored techniques to validate market needs and pain points - Michio guided us through creating unique value propositions for each stakeholder - We practiced articulating benefits tailored to different perspectives Michio insisted that these learnings are vital to ensure lifesciences projects are better, have more chances to secure funding and eventually reach patients and benefit society! 🌎 🎤 Solution Showcase: Our aspiring entrepreneurs presented their innovative ideas and their key customers, receiving real-time feedback from Michio and peers. Recap of Day 6 in Module B! 🎯 This week’s online workshop focused on the fundamentals of corporate strategies and business development. We had the pleasure of welcoming biotech and pharma business experts Muriel Fisser and Federica Sgariglia, PhD to lead this session, and they did a fantastic job! In this session, we explored: 1. How corporate strategies should outline a plan towards your company’s mission and vision statements. 2. Key questions that need to be answered to bring a new product to market in pharma and biotech companies. 3. Participants worked within their teams to conduct a SWOT analysis, reflecting on their project's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, gaining valuable insights into their business strategies. 4. The role of business development in startups and how to use their SWOT insights to craft messages tailored for different audiences, whether for partners and investors. This session was incredibly valuable, with outcomes that participants will be able to apply in future workshops!
