Proud to share the Concrete Sustainability Council’s (CSC) impactful presence at COP16 Biodiversity Summit in Colombia! 🌍🌱 Manuel Lascarro, representing CSC and the Colombian Chamber of Cement and Concrete, Procemco, highlighted our industry’s commitment to biodiversity and responsible sourcing practices. This year’s COP16 session was a unique opportunity to underscore how CSC is driving positive change through nature-based solutions and sustainable practices, particularly in ecologically sensitive areas like karst regions. At a session organized by the GCCA – Global Cement and Concrete Association, Manuel showcased CSC’s biodiversity-focused framework, covering everything from comprehensive impact assessments to dedicated action plans that support no net loss of biodiversity. It’s inspiring to see such active engagement from industry leaders, NGOs, government representatives, and academia—everyone with a shared goal of protecting and enhancing ecosystems. 🌍 Irish Cement Limited is leading the way as the first company in Ireland to receive the prestigious Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC) certification! 🌱 This milestone reflects Irish Cement’s strong commitment to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and governance. The CSC recently awarded certifications to their two factories: Platin (Gold) and Limerick (Silver), recognizing their efforts to evaluate and enhance sustainability across all business areas. Ray Molyneaux, Managing Director of Irish Cement, shared: "We are delighted in Irish Cement to have achieved certification from the Concrete Sustainability Council. Working closely with our customers in the concrete industry, we know the increasing importance of measuring and reporting on all aspects of sustainability – environmental, social, and governance. 🎉 Congratulations to Hering International Bau GmbH & Co. KG Systeme on achieving CSC Silver Certification for their precast concrete plant in Burbach! 🌍🏗️ Hering International has been a pioneer in sustainable concrete production for many years, with their journey starting in the 1990s with the EMAS environmental management system. The company continues to innovate, using recycled aggregates and CO2-reduced cements since 2024. Their commitment to sustainability has only grown stronger, making them a leader in the industry. 💬 As Dr. Dr. Magdalena Kimm, Head of Innovation & Sustainability at HERING, notes: “The concrete industry is becoming increasingly active in sustainability, and we expect more demand for certified products. CSC certification is the established seal in the concrete industry, and we’re proud to be part of this movement.” Despite exceeding the points for gold certification, HERING aims to achieve CSC GOLD next year.
