🚀 Meet Wyvern: Hyperion's First Liquid-Oxygen Engine We are excited to announce that our bi-liquid LOx-Ethanol #engine, Demo-B1, also known as "Wyvern", is now complete. This engine, designed as a semester project by three of our members, is ready for #testing! 🔥Wyvern is a #3Dprinted #Inconel engine designed for a nominal thrust of 5kN with a mass flow rate of 2.2 kg/s and an unlimited runtime. Engineered to withstand high temperatures, Wyvern features #regenerative #cooling and #film #cooling for its heat management. Its simplified design, with fewer parts, reduced costs and accelerated the conception phase, taking just 16 weeks from start to finish. The attached photos highlight the engine's journey from the initial design phase to the final, ready-for-testing model. 🔥Wyvern was also presented at the 9th Edition of the SPACE PROPULSION CONFERENCE in Glasgow. 🚀👷 EuRoC 2023: Operating the First Swiss Bi-Liquid Rocket ! I’m thrilled to share my experience at EuRoC 2023, where I had the honor of leading the Structure Team for Nordend, the first Swiss bi-liquid rocket. The EPFL Rocket Team's performance was outstanding as we successfully delivered the launch vehicle to the pad during the competition's first launch window in the morning. This achievement is particularly impressive considering we were integrating a complex bi-liquid rocket for the first time, far from home, in the Portuguese desert. Notably, we were one of the few teams to hit the first launch window – so early that the competition officials weren’t prepared, believing no team could achieve it. The rocket successfully lifted off in the afternoon after a minor adjustment to the ground support quick release. How did we achieve this ? Through extensive training and innovative design. For instance, within the structure subsystem, we developed a fully modular CFRP-Aluminium internal structure (see image 3), which allowed enhanced radial access during integration. We also pre-integrated as much as possible the day before the flight, minimizing risks and timeline shifts on launch day. This philosophy of streamlined, modular design was applied throughout the entire vehicle and ground systems, enabling us to achieve such rapid launch readiness. These intense, brief periods are often the most stressful and exhilarating parts of the project, where technical, logistical, and human challenges converge. Here’s to pushing boundaries and setting new standards in student rocketry ! 🚀

Mi-mai a eu lieu le lancement de notre fusée avec l’EPFL Rocket Team 🚀. Depuis octobre, nous travaillons en équipes de 8 sur ce projet, devant fabriquer la structure, les parachutes, l’avionique, et le reste, sauf les moteurs qui étaient fournis. Notre lancement s’est déroulé avec succès, et nous avons retrouvé la fusée intacte grâce aux parachutes. En plus de cette réussite, nous avons gagné les prix du meilleur design et du meilleur système de parachute, avec un parachute en croix, peu commun mais très efficace, utilisé entre autres par l’armée américaine. Bravo encore à toute l’équipe 👏 et merci à l’ EPFL de nous permettre de réaliser ce genre de projets.

🚀 Exciting News from Space Race! 🚀 On May 11th, were proudly launched the rockets of the IV edition of the Space Race, ERT's educational project designed to introduce first year #students to the world of #rocketry. Throughout the first semester, participants attended workshops to develop essential rocketry skills.
