We are pleased to announce the sale of a kvyreen 80 charger to SMT Netherlands, the exclusive dealer of Volvo construction equipment and Sennebogen.
„With our growing fleet of battery electric construction equipment, we have been looking for zero emissions charging solutions, and kvyreen fits our needs perfectly“ says Mark de Haan, Manager Business Development at SMT Netherlands. He continues: „We believe that hydrogen and fuel cells are going to play an important role in providing zero emission power and charging solutions for construction sites. We look forward to offer these solutions to our customers.“
Launched in 2023, the kvyreen 80 charger is based on an 80kW hydrogen fuel cell from Toyota Motor Europe and includes integrated battery and power electronics to deliver fast charging over CCS-2 for battery electric vehicles and equipment. The unit is capable of being integrated into public charging networks, can be used for private or to charges fleets, like the application with SMT Netherlands. The unit can operate fully off-grid and just needs a hydrogen supply, which can be provided by bundle, container or a fixed infrastructure. The technology has been deployed in the field since 2022 and has a solid track record of reliable and safe operation.
Corey Houle, CEO of Kvyreen AG, a fully owned subsidiary of H2 Energy „This order from SMT Netherlands proves the case for kyvreen products in the construction sector, which we expect to be an important segment going forwards. Construction sites are often located away from the electrical grid where the only power source available are diesel generators. The current zero emission charging solutions which rely on battery energy storage systems are a great first step, but to meet the high energy demand of typical construction machinery and to fully decarbonize the operation of construction sites or many other applications a molecule based and more energy-dense carrier like hydrogen is needed.”
