We are proud to announce that Herosupport SA has successfully applied for the Start-up Innovation Projects and received funding from the Swiss Innovation Agency, Innosuisse! HeroSupport focuses on developing patient-specific devices, particularly supports and immobilization devices, using patented solutions and additive manufacturing techniques. We provide solutions for radiation oncology professionals, enabling them to deliver precise and personalized treatments while reducing treatment time. The CHF 0.9M grant, which represents the contributions of Innosuisse and HeroSupport to the project, will be used to drive the certification of HeroSupport devices and facilitate the first clinical trials. Swiss Innovation for Human Health!!! The #lifesciences in #Switzerland continue to thrive and grow as #startups spun-out from large pharma and new companies formed on the basis of #science and #innovation developed at highly rated ETH Zürich and EPFL advance along their chosen pathways and mature from research-focused organizations, to pre-clinical, development and finally commercial stages. With strong government support, most companies are located in clusters such as the BioValley Basel (headquarters of Novartis, Roche, Ciba, Clariant, Lonza and Roivant Sciences and branches of large pharmaceutical companies, such as Johnson & Johnson, Eli Lilly and Company, Pfizer and Sanofi), the Biopôle Lausanne (more than 100 companies and institutions, from start-ups to multinationals and 25 world-famous research groups) and the Bio-technopark Schlieren-zürich (over 50 companies and 30 academic institutions).  Looking at the logos listed the lobbies of the buildings there and getting sense of the energy and buzz in the hallways can be inspiring. Last week, as reported by Stefan Kyora and Startupticker.ch, Jordi Montserrat and Stefan Steiner from Venturelab hosted the 14th annual TOP 100 Startup Awards as assessed by a highly qualified jury; 16 #biotech and 12 #medtech companies were recognized. ** Samir Ounzain, Daniel Blessing and the team at HAYA Therapeutics – the winner of last year’s Top 100 Swiss Startup Award – was the top ranked biotech and took fifth place this year.  In addition, they announced collaboration with Eli Lilly that could bring the Lausanne-based start-up up to $1 billion. ** Matt Curran, Christophe Chautems, and Brad Nelson and the team at Nanoflex Robotics came in at 10th place and was the top scoring medtech company, recognnized for the endoluminal soft robotic systems that can be remotely manipulated within the bod. ** Jana Fischer, Andrea Jacobs, Stéphane Chevrier and the team at Navignostics AG was the top rated #diagnostics company, recognized for their approach to personalize treatment for each cancer patient’s disease using spatial single-cell proteomics. The industry has strong suport from the Swiss Biotech Association which works to secure favorable framework conditions and facilitate access to talents, novel technologies and financial resources.  There are a growing number of funding sources; government sources such as Innosuisse and FONGIT , #venturecapital including #corporateventurecapital and #privateequity investors as well.  There are a number of highly competent #consultinggroups in Switzerland who partner with #entrepreneurs to help them address challenges they face.
