Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) are a group of diseases that affect over 1 billion people, mostly in the world’s most vulnerable communities. 🌱 Climate change is making NTDs even harder to tackle, so it's more important than ever to adopt a One Health approach, connecting human, animal, and environmental health. The theme of this year's #WorldNTDDay is clear: Unite. Act. Eliminate. To do so, we need: 🔑 More investment in NTDs and health systems 📊 Better surveillance to track and respond to outbreaks 🚀 Faster R&D for new treatments, tools, and diagnostics 🤝 Stronger community engagement It’s time to amplify political will and ensure we’re investing in long-term solutions. The challenge is huge, but the solutions are within reach. Let’s unite, act, and eliminate NTDs – together! 🌍 #WorldNTDDay2025

IFPMA and our members support elevating #rarediseases on the global health agenda. The Global Action Plan proposed by the WHA Resolution, currently co-led by more than a dozen Member States, is a unique opportunity to create a solid framework to support the 300 million people living with a rare disease (#PLWRD) around the world. Our industry stands ready to collaborate with all stakeholders in this effort.
Today, the 131 members of the Coalition in Support of the WHA Resolution on Rare Diseases, published an open letter to Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the WHO, emphasizing the need for a Global Action Plan on Rare Diseases. This plan is critical to ensuring sustainable solutions, greater equity for persons living with a rare disease #PLWRD and making Universal Health Coverage #UHC a reality. The Coalition urges WHO to take key actions: · Dedicate resources to develop the Global Action Plan. · Support Member States in adopting and implementing the Resolution. · Engage PLWRD and their advocates in the process. · Foster international collaboration. The Coalition remains committed to collaborating with WHO and Member States to advance this agenda. 🤝 Partnerships are essential in addressing #GlobalHealth challenges and fostering robust innovation ecosystems. The H3D Foundation founded by Professor Kelly Chibale is an example of how collaboration can empower researchers, strengthen drug discovery infrastructure, and bridge the gap between the lab and the patient. ✨ Since 2019, the H3D Foundation has worked to uplift Africa’s capacity for pharmaceutical R&D, complemented by strategic partnerships with organizations like IFPMA and member companies. These collaborations enable skill-building, mentorship, and the expansion of networks, equipping African scientists to lead globally impactful drug discovery efforts. 💡 As Professor Chibale highlights in his article for Health Policy Watch partnerships are critical to overcoming barriers such as infrastructure gaps, funding challenges, and a lack of local resources. They amplify the continent’s potential to address human diseases by working closer to the populations affected, enabling tailored solutions for local and global health needs. ⤵️ Read more about the H3D Foundation’s work and the transformative impact of partnerships on global health in the full article: https://lnkd.in/dXch3Kab #HealthInnovation #Partnerships #GlobalHealth #AfricaInnovation
