Innovation Zurich hat dies direkt geteilt
The University of Zurich Space Hub has officially inaugurated Hangar 4 at Switzerland Innovation Park Zurich, marking a new milestone in advancing #SpaceResearch and #Innovation. In the interview below, Director Prof. Dr. Dr. Oliver Ullrich shares insights into the future of space access: with NASA stepping back from low Earth orbit operations by 2030, private industry will take over, drastically lowering space freight costs and simplifying logistics. Dr. Ullrich indicates that by 2030, the cost of space freight could be comparable to regular international shipping, removing the current high fees and lengthy approval processes. Located at Stadt Dübendorf in the Greater Zurich Area, the UZH Space Hub aims to become a center of excellence, leveraging its location’s resources, such as start-ups, offices, labs, workshops, and areas for drone assembly. Access to Dübendorf’s airfield is crucial, as it allows for unique operations like parabolic flights and direct flights to the Kennedy Space Center, where the Space Hub collaborates on missions. This infrastructure positions Dübendorf as a strategic site for advancing space research and innovation.
