🚨 New Research Published in Life Science Alliance! 🧬✨ Excited to share a recent publication from the Maurizio Molinari 's lab, that characterizes TMX5, a member of the protein disulfide isomerase (PDI) family. The findings also shed light on the role of ERp44—another PDI family member—in determining intracellular distribution and clients’ selection of TMX5. 👏 Congratulations to the authors: Carolin Hoefner, Tatiana Soldà, Carmela Galli Molinari and Concetta Guerra for their outstanding contributions! 👉 Check out the paper in Life Science Alliance to dive into the details of this exciting discovery : https://lnkd.in/eq5uUvN9 #Science #Research #ProteinFolding #ERp44 #TMX5 #PDI #MolinariLab #LifeScienceAlliance #ProteinDisulfideIsomerase https://lnkd.in/eYnP9YPk

🚀 Exciting Breakthrough in DNA Repair Research 🎉 Huge congratulations to the brilliant researchers Ilaria Ceppi and Maria Rosaria Dello Stritto, from Professor Petr Cejka's laboratory, for their internationally recognized work on DNA repair mechanisms! 🧬🔬 Their research focused on the BRCA1 protein, a key player in our body’s “emergency response” to DNA damage. Understanding how BRCA1 repairs damaged DNA opens new doors for cancer prevention and treatment. This discovery could lead to early detection and more effective therapies, potentially improving patient outcomes. 👏 Kudos to these dedicated scientists : your achievements inspire us all! #DNARepair #BRCA1 #CancerResearch #WomenInScience #Innovation #PioneersInResearch #FutureOfHealthcare #ScienceBreakthrough #Teamwork https://shorturl.at/CLMG3

🎉 Congratulations Benedetta De Ponte Conti as one of the three winners of the Best Thesis Award 2023 from #GCB University of Bern.
What a great day! Last Thursday June 27th we had the #GCB University of Bern symposium, and it was a great success. Thank you to all participants, speakers and poster presenters. Thank you Prof. Dr. Timm Schroeder ETH Zürich for a wonderful and inspiring lecture. During the afternoon, we knew the three winners of the Best Thesis Award 2023, Dr. Benedetta De Ponte Conti (IRB | Institute for Research in Biomedicine), Dr. Zoja Selimi (Department of Physiology) and MD. PhD. Vera Lehmann (University Clinic for Diabetes). And our president Prof. Dr. Sebastian Leidel presented the awards for best talks and posters of each committee. It was a rounded day, with a small sad note to remember the recently deceased Prof. Dr. Yitzhak Zimmermann, part of the GCB since 2013. An emotional minute of silence requested by coordinator Monica Schaller reminded us that GCB is a big family. And of course, this whole day would not have been possible without the wonderful team of volunteers. The GCB team is working already for the 2025 edition. We hope see many of you there!

🗞 📚 Scientific Result in Molecular Cell by a collaboration between CEA Joliot, Institut Curie and IRB | Institute for Research in Biomedicine : Raphael GUEROIS, Valérie Borde and Petr Cejka teams shed light on how the human nuclease MRN works. Structural predictions obtained with #AlphaFold2 and confirmed by in vitro and in vivo experiments show that the phosphorylated Sae2/CtIP protein forms a network of interactions with MRN that favours the removal of its autoinhibition.
