🚨Women hold only 27% of parliamentary seats and just 16% of peace negotiator roles globally. The UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (#CEDAW), puts 50:50 parity at the centre of their 40th General Recommendation, calling for women’s equal and inclusive representation in decision-making. 💪 👉 True parity will transform economies, peace processes, and responses to global challenges. https://lnkd.in/ep2atCEw

We are in the midst of a sixth mass extinction, as entire ecosystems collapse and destroy lives and livelihoods. The rights of millions, including Indigenous Peoples, people of African descent, and communities in vulnerable situations, are already being impacted. Today, #CBD #COP16, the 16th UN Biodiversity Conference, opens seeking to establish concrete actions to halt the sixth mass extinction and protect our planet’s vital ecosystems. COP16 is a critical opportunity to integrate human rights into biodiversity efforts. We must act now to reform conservation funding, protect environmental human rights defenders, and uphold human rights in every decision. Our collective future depends on it.

The situation for civilians in the #MiddleEast is getting worse by the day. Last night, Beirut was bombed in the heaviest strike yet & Hezbollah said it had launched at least 360 missiles into Israel. There is no alternative to the resolution of this conflict than the negotiating table. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eAMukEKT

Today marks the #WorldDayAgainstDeathPenalty, a day to reflect on human dignity and the right to life for all. It reminds us that justice through killing is not the answer. Together, we stand for justice rooted in the rule of law and universal respect for #humanrights. UN Human Rights calls for abolishing the death penalty because: ➡ It is incompatible with the right to life and human dignity. ➡ Judicial errors can lead to wrongful executions. ➡ It doesn’t effectively deter crime. The death penalty has no place in a society that values human dignity. Human rights are for everyone, everywhere. They are non-negotiable. #EndExecutions
