🌍 Last week, the European Roundtable for Beef Sustainability (ERBS) brought together 60 industry leaders and stakeholders in Poznan, Poland, for an inspiring ERBS Annual Event 2024. It was a fantastic opportunity for members to dive deep into the theme of ‘GHG - accelerating progress for a resilient beef sector’, explore new ideas, and forge valuable connections. With 24 expert speakers and panellists, the event delivered thought-provoking sessions on key topics, including: 🤝 Progress on reducing GHG emissions and building resilience in the beef sector through value chain collaborations. 🚜 Field visits to OSI and ABF farms, offering a first-hand look at sustainable practices in action. 👥 Engaging discussions highlighted how local challenges connect to and inform the broader European perspective, driving meaningful change across the region. 🎥 A special premiere of World Without Cows, a compelling film that underscores the critical role of livestock in our ecosystems. A huge thank you to our speakers for sharing their valuable insights, ABP Ireland & Poland & OSI Poland Foodworks for organising the farm visits, and Alltech for facilitating the screening of World Without Cows possible. Your contributions helped make this event a great success! #ERBS #GRSB

📣 SAI Platform was proud to participate in this year’s PRODURABLE event, joining forces with Mondelēz International and Agrosolutions Consulting to explore the crucial role of biodiversity in sustainable procurement strategies. 🎤 Our Global Engagement Manager, Manon Marron, highlighted key insights during a roundtable on "Measuring and Implementing Biodiversity in a Sustainable Procurement Strategy" including: 🌾 The urgency of addressing the biodiversity crisis: With 1 million species at risk and 75% of Earth’s surface altered, agriculture can play a central role in reversing this trend. 🌾 The regulatory alignment, such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), is helping drive sustainable practices across supply chains with a focus on biodiversity and traceability. 🌾 SAI Platform’s Regenerating Together Programme is uniting the agri-food industry behind a practical, science based and farmer centric approach to regenerative agriculture. 🌍 Let’s continue to collaborate with key stakeholders to drive the transition to a regenerative future! #PeoplePoweredAgriculture #RegenerativeAgriculture

📣 We are thrilled to announce that SAI Platform's Regenerative Agriculture Director, Dominik Klauser was in Paris today at the International Dairy Federation's World Dairy Summit 2024 to officially launch the Future Fit Dairy Initiative (FFDi). 🤝 The FFDi is a collaboration between five leading companies in the dairy value chain, Arla Foods, Danone, dsm-firmenich, FrieslandCampina, and Rabobank who share our commitment to drive the transition to regenerative agriculture with industry aligned, science based and farmer centric solutions.   🐮 Having already started testing the Regenerating Together Global Framework for Regenerative Agriculture with a selection of dairy farms in several countries in Northwestern Europe, the FFDi has ambitions to scale up these pilots in 2025 and inspire action globally.   Joined on stage by Mireille Einwachter of FrieslandCampina, David Nickell of dsm-firmenich and Lianne Van Leijsen of Rabobank, Dominik took part in a panel discussion to explore how SAI Platform's Regenerating Together Global Framework for Regenerative Agriculture can be meaningfully tailored to local contexts and inspire global action by aligning the industry behind universal principles for regenerative agriculture.   🧑🌾 The FFDi is an important example of how stakeholders across the supply chain can come together and adapt the Framework to support their work in various regions and/or farming systems. In collaboration with their farmers, the FFDi is strengthening the resilience of the dairy sector in Northwestern Europe by accelerating the transition to regenerative agriculture. ✨ At SAI Platform, we're excited to be part of this collaborative journey towards a future-fit dairy industry! Thank you to Metabolic and Maëla Porcheron for the continued support. #PeoplePoweredAgriculture #RegeneratingTogether

📣  Last week, SAI Platform’s Crops Manager, Robyn Cooper joined Charlie Kingsley, Adele Jones, Mark Varney and Lydia Collas on stage at Food Matters Live to discuss how the industry is embracing the move towards regenerative agriculture. 🌱 Key insights included:  1. There's growing consensus on defining regen ag as outcomes-based and context-specific, focusing on key environmental benefits beyond carbon and farmer profitability. However, this shift makes monitoring and claiming more complex.  2. To prevent the proliferation of different standards across the sector, we must ensure consistency in what’s asked of farmers. This will ease their admin and monitoring burden, while also encouraging broader adoption.  3. SAI Platform, together with industry partners, has developed a framework that brings alignment while offering flexibility for local contexts. The updated version, due to be released on 31st October, is even more farmer-centric, ensuring it meets both farmers’ needs and member organisations' goals. 🚀 Pros of industry engagement so far:  - Regen ag is increasingly seen as a tool for value chain resilience and risk management.  - Appetite for cross-sector collaboration is growing, even though the sector is still navigating the transition.  - We’re seeing a surge in “proof of concept” regen ag initiatives, which are showing promising results.  - Crucially, there’s a growing realisation that all actors must invest in this transition. ⚠️ Challenges still faced:  - Translating the nuance and complexity of regen ag into a consumer-friendly narrative.  - Scaling from proof of concept to widespread adoption is slow as the industry figures out the costs and returns of regen ag in various contexts and balances the long term benefits with short term commercial outlooks. 💡The industry is recognising the urgent need for value chain resilience and the pivotal role regenerative agriculture plays in achieving this, while meeting corporate climate goals. Collaboration is essential, but we must keep the bigger picture in mind and prioritise true regeneration over measurement for measurement’s sake. #PeoplePoweredAgriculture #RegenerativeAgriculture
