Thank you Bret Scher Metabolic Mind for presenting these important information for everyone considering a Ketogenic Metabolic Therapies stumbling over outdated warnings on Keto and Kidney Health!
Concerns about low-carb diets and kidney health often arise from fears about high protein consumption. However, research does not support the idea that a whole-food, high-protein diet damages kidney function. In fact, poor metabolic health is likely a much more significant risk factor for kidney dysfunction. Emerging evidence suggests that metabolic therapies, like low-carb diets, may actually improve kidney function, particularly for those with type 2 diabetes. In this study, patients who followed a low-carb diet saw positive changes in kidney markers, likely due to improved metabolic factors, such as better glucose control, reduced blood pressure, and lower triglyceride levels.
