🌟 Redefining Tactile Sensing in Robotics! We’re excited to unveil a new approach that transforms 6-axis force torque sensors into powerful tactile sensors, bringing robotics closer to human-level dexterity. 🔍 The Hidden Challenges of Tactile Sensors Optical, camera-based tactile sensors have advanced robotic perception, but they come with limitations that impact real-world applications: ⚠ Complex Calibration – Requires frequent adjustments for accuracy ⚠ Light Sensitivity – External lighting can interfere with performance ⚠ Durability Concerns – Fragile optical components in demanding environments ⚠ High Computational Load – Processing large image data in real-time ⚠ Latency Issues – Slower response times in dynamic tasks As robotics evolves, we need robust, scalable, and efficient tactile sensing solutions. Our approach leverages 6-axis force torque sensors to overcome these limitations—enabling precise force control, slip detection, and pressure mapping without the drawbacks of optical systems. The future of robotic sensing is here! Let's work on it together🚀 Bota Systems AG #Robotics #AI #TactileSensors #ForceTorque #Innovation #Automation

I understand that many of my colleagues in Europe are skeptical about the potential of humanoid robots. However, I firmly believe there is nothing stopping humanity from creating (1) agile, (2) dexterous, and (3) highly autonomous robots with capabilities that parallel those of biological systems. Whether this development is ultimately for the good or bad is another matter entirely. Currently, probably no other place in the world rivals China in advancing this vision of robotics. The country not only has a concentrated effort aligned with its national strategy replacing the aging workforce but also a dense ecosystem of commercial companies driving innovation in this field. With this in mind, my colleague David Weder and I quickly planned and embarked on an intensive one-week visit to China. We met with over 15 companies and institutes in the field of robotics, perfectly co-organised by the Swiss Business Hub China. Our impressions were remarkable: 1. The level of investment and government support in robotics is staggering. For example, Beijing recently inaugurated the Beijing Robot Industry Park, an entire innovation "city" featuring more than 50 buildings dedicated to robotics. 2. Chinese companies exhibit extraordinary control over their product and supply chains, with many achieving up to 95% in-house development. This includes critical components like electronics, actuators and gearboxes. 3. There is a strong openness to collaboration and forming partnerships with countries like Switzerland. 4. Autonmous robots are already meaningfully integrated into daily life, such as hotels, where they deliver real, tangible benefits. 5. Education on robotics and AI starts around the age of 10, fostering early interest and expertise in the field. 6. Out of the 150 companies globally active in humanoid robotics, 75 are based in China. This raises critical questions for Europe and beyond: - Should Europe strive to build its own champions in humanoid robotics? - Should we consider banning this type of robot if their societal impact proves too disruptive? - Can we foster collaboration with both Chinese and American leaders in this field while focusing on developing niche applications and building on-top solutions? During our trip, David and I brainstormed several ideas on how Switzerland could position itself in this rapidly evolving field. In February, we are excited to invite the world to join the first International Humanoid Forum in Switzerland. This event will provide an opportunity to experience humanoid robots in live, engage with experts, and join an open discussion featuring diverse perspectives. What is your opinion on humanoid robotics?
