Info
Swiss-Mile, a deep tech spin-off from ETH Zurich, collects insights and eases labor by connecting AI with the physical world using autonomous machines. Mobile robots have vast potential, but many lack the ability to effectively navigate obstacles, move over large distances, and carry significant loads. Moreover, their reasoning capabilities often limit widespread adoption. Therefore, we introduce AI-driven wheeled-legged robots to bridge this gap. Our patented design combines the best of wheels and legs, allowing the transport of payloads and sensors across vast distances, even on challenging terrains. As AI advances in interpreting online content, we anticipate AI systems requiring versatile embodiments and real-world reasoning, exemplified by our robot and its autonomy in dynamic urban settings. Furthermore, we go beyond technology, integrating customer-centered services into our offerings.

We've Secured $22M in Seed Funding, Co-Led by Jeff Bezos and HongShan! 🚀 Today, we are announcing a $22 million seed funding round led by Jeff Bezos through Bezos Expeditions and HongShan. This round also includes participation from the Amazon Industrial Innovation Fund and ARMADA Investment AG, with continued support from our existing investor Linear Capital. We proudly welcome this distinguished investor consortium to join our journey in delivering embodied AI, poised to transform and improve millions of lives. Incorporated in April 2023, we aim to relieve humanity from strenuous and tedious tasks by connecting AI with the physical world, creating truly autonomous robots. We join forces with world-class talent in embodied AI and robotics, tackling the most challenging aspects of mobility, autonomy, and manipulation. In the first year, we achieved early successes with pilot deployments among key customers, including last-mile delivery in smart cities and security for critical infrastructure. These customers witnessed the AI-driven autonomy of the first-of-its-kind wheeled-legged robots, powered by neural networks. #Robotics #AI If you are passionate about embodied AI and robotics, then join the transformative journey by exploring our open positions. #Hiring If you're interested in integrating mobile robotic solutions into your processes for applications in security, monitoring, construction, or logistics, we invite you to join our beta program. Issue 57 August/September out now! We speak to Andy Lacher, NASA’s chief technologist for future airspace ops. He discusses the challenges of today’s airspace operations, which are human-centric and reliant on voice communications. Our dossier details the Schiebel Camcopter S-100, we look back over three decades of optimising a trusted flagship product. We also profile Avadi Engines’ XMD-250 and investigate the benefits of a modern take on sleeve-valve engines, featuring a single rotating cylinder and a piston with two connecting rods. Our ‘in operation’ feature’s the Swiss-Mile UGV, exploring how the founders made a robot able to walk, stand, grab and roll, fulfilling various on-site roles from observation to security. We digest the Bedrock Ocean Exploration AUV, on a mission to provide high-quality oceanological data for its customers, this company decided to design and build its very own fleet of underwater vehicles to gather it. Our Insight into UAVs spotlights the new breeds of uncrewed vehicles coming to the fore, from miniature photographers to gargantuan aircraft.
