☀ Just in time for the summer solstice, the longest day of the year with the most sunshine, we inaugurated plant DAWN. It is our first industrial-scale demonstration plant for the production of synthetic fuels from solar energy. ⛽ We will now continue to commission the plant to start fuel production soon. With the opening of DAWN and upcoming start of solar fuel production, Synhelion is demonstrating that the technology for the production of solar fuels is ready for large-scale production. ✈ The sustainable fuels produced in Jülich will demonstrate the technology's potential to defossilize the transportation sector, especially aviation. #synhelion #solarfuels #saf #sustainableaviationfuel #solarenergy Swiss International Air Lines Lufthansa Group AMAG Group Pilatus Aircraft Ltd Zurich Airport Ltd Brainergy Park Jülich GmbH ETH Zürich German Aerospace Center (DLR) Empa FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research ISC eFuel Alliance Solar Impulse Foundation World Economic Forum UpLink - World Economic Forum

🌍 The transportation sector emits around 8 billion tons of CO₂ per year, making it one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. Transitioning to renewable energy isn’t just an option, it’s essential. ✈ For hard-to-abate industries like aviation, shipping, and heavy transportation, renewable fuels like our solar fuels play a critical role in achieving a net-zero future. ☀ With DAWN, our industrial-scale plant, we are demonstrating the robustness of the Sun-to-Liquid technology. The plant is now being commissioned and the first fuel batches from DAWN will be used for showcases in various transportation sectors. 🚀The path to sustainability is clear, and we’re driving toward it. ➡ Stay tuned!

Our engineers worked on the calibration of the heliostats and couldn’t resist getting creative with our precise control system. They tried to create a beautiful display of concentrated sunlight around the receiver area. The result was too cool not to share, so here’s a behind-the-scenes peek at what we’re now calling “heliostat curling”! #synhelion #solarfuels #solarenergy #saf

It’s only the beginning of August, and today is already #EarthOvershootDay: the date when humanity has used up all the biological resources that Earth can regenerate in a year. It’s crucial that we work together to #MoveTheDate toward the end of the year. Solar energy is one of the most abundant and cheapest renewable resources available. Synhelion is harnessing the immense potential of solar energy to transition the transportation sector from fossil to renewable fuels. Remarkably, in just one hour, the sunlight hitting Earth’s surface generates enough energy to meet the world’s needs for an entire year – almost impossible to imagine. Synhelion’s technology harnesses this energy to produce renewable solar fuels. Our sustainable fuels can even directly replace fossil fuels and are fully compatible with existing fuel infrastructure. #synhelion #solarfuels #solarheat #solarenergy 📷 Global Footprint Network 2024

Podcast recommendation for your summer vacation! ⬇ 🎤 Innovator Sessions by Red Bull invited Philipp Furler, PhD, our Co-CEO, to talk about our renewable fuels. The podcast also refreshes our memory with an interesting summary of the history of aviation and kerosene dating back to 1903. 💧 Kerosene is the preferred way to power an aircraft because of its high energy density. Since batteries are too heavy to power medium- to long-haul flights, there is no way around liquid fuels in the future. ☀ ⛽ So renewable fuels are the only viable solution to defossilize aviation. 💛 And that’s what we’re working on: To provide the transportation sector with sustainable fuels and contribute to a net-zero transportation sector by replacing fossil fuels with sustainable solar fuels. Our solar fuels close the carbon cycle and drive a world connected by clean, sustainable transportation. #synhelion #solarfuels #solarenergy #saf
