Last week, Terre des hommes proudly co-organised a key event on climate justice in Brussels. This was also a European preparatory event for the 2025 World Congress on Justice With Children. Our colleague Marta Gil underlined the urgent need for collective and intergenerational actions to address climate injustice and protect children’s rights in the face of climate change.    🗣️ Children and youth were clear: they see climate change as the most significant danger to their present and future, and they are demanding Climate Justice. Myanmar has been hardly hit by recent floods that destroyed up to 90% of the houses, schools, hospitals and sources of water in certain villages of the Taungoo district in the center of the country. Most of the farmlands and food supplies were also lost in these areas. A rapid needs assessment conducted by our team also identified limited access to health services, shortage of water and sanitation services and increased power outages among rising socio-political challenges. “A mother told us how the floods wiped out her family's only source of income, leaving her children without access to clean water or proper food. With homes destroyed and healthcare severely limited, she now fears for their future”, says Htet Aung Kyaw, Tdh Health programme manager in Myanmar. In response to the severe flooding in Myanmar, our teams quickly mobilised to deliver much-needed aid in Taungoo. We are providing essential supplies such as food, clean water, clothing, and first aid to support affected families. We also offer primary healthcare, ensuring communities received the care they need.      #HumanitarianAid #Myanmar

🌍🧼 Global Handwashing Day 2024: Championing Clean Hands through the #hands4health Project This #GlobalHandwashingDay, we’re proud to share the impact of the 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀𝟰𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 project! From schools in conflict-affected areas in Nigeria and Palestine to health facilities in Mali and Burkina Faso, we are improving access to life-saving handwashing facilities for some of the world’s most vulnerable communities. Handwashing with soap is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of diseases like diarrhea and respiratory infections. In fact, handwashing can reduce diarrheal diseases by up to 30% and respiratory infections by nearly 20%. Today, RFI - Radio France Internationale highlighted several inspiring laureates of the Observatory of e-Health in the Southern Countries (ODESS), supported by the Pierre Fabre Foundation. These innovators from the Philippines, Rwanda, and Southern Africa (Zimbabwe-Malawi) are leveraging digital health tools to enhance healthcare access, particularly in remote areas through telemedicine. Special mention to Florian Triclin, a former ODESS laureate with the IeDA project by Terre des hommes, which uses mobile technology to improve maternal and child healthcare in rural West Africa and Asia.
