#ForestDegradation is a global challenge, reducing forests' ability to provide vital services like #carbonstorage, #biodiversity, and #soil health. Both human activities - such as unsustainable #logging and land use - and natural disturbances contribute to this decline. So, how can we address this? Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) offers a solution. By restoring degraded #forests and #landscapes, FLR helps to reverse the damage caused by #degradation, strengthening ecological #resilience and ensuring sustainable productivity. It also enhances #foodsecurity and supports the mitigation of #climatechange by sequestering carbon. FLR is a holistic approach that actively involves local #communities in restoring ecosystems, making sure that forests continue to provide essential services for generations to come. The National Policy Guiding Principles (NPGP) provide a framework to help countries design effective restoration strategies for long-term impact: https://lnkd.in/e-QhSMvP
