Gender equality is crucial for every industry, especially in the watch and jewellery sector. Gender bias not only undermines our social fabric but also represents a significant waste of the world’s human potential. Denying women equal rights means denying half the population the opportunity to live life to its fullest. As part of our commitment to fostering inclusiveness, WJI 2030 focuses on moving from activation to acceleration. Signing the Women Empowerment Principles (WEPs) is just the first step. To truly accelerate progress, it’s essential to integrate and embed the WEPs framework into your corporate culture and strategy. Every organization has a role to play and can begin with small actions. We are here to support you with practical guidance in collaboration with UN Women and the WEPs secretariat. Join us next week for the first session of our 3-part webinar series to support your business on this journey: Session 1 - Navigating ESG from a gender lens: June 25th, 2:00-3:30 pm CET Register Here: https://lnkd.in/dxH_PGK2 The series will provide expert presentations and practical exercises to help companies: - Understand the risks and opportunities of gender equality materiality. - Learn from case studies of WEPs signatories about the business case and lessons learned. - Be inspired to raise awareness and participate actively. - Gain insights from practical and technical working sessions on implementation. - Get motivated to advance gender equality, engage suppliers, and support women business owners. We strongly encourage participation from DEI, Sustainability, Supply Chain, and Procurement representatives. Let's work together to accelerate efforts towards gender equality in our industry. Mark your calendars for the upcoming sessions: Session 2 - Fostering an inclusive workplace culture: July 11th, 3:00-4:30 pm CET Register Here: https://lnkd.in/dJv3vmpw Session 3 - Embedding gender equality into the value chain: July 16th, 2:00-3:30 pm CET Register Here: https://lnkd.in/dFtj-x8h Join us in making a difference on SDG5 #SDG5 #GenderEquality #WomensEmpowermentPrinciples #EmpowerTheChange #DEI

Today, on the International Day Against Child Labour, we stand in solidarity with global efforts to eradicate child labour. According to Human Rights Watch, over 152 million children worldwide are engaged in child labour, with millions working in hazardous conditions. This is a stark reminder of the urgent need for collective action to protect children’s rights. In the watch and jewellery industry, we must be particularly vigilant. It is our responsibility to ensure that our practices do not contribute to this global issue. WJI 2030 is committed to promoting ethical practices and transparency in our supply chains. We are dedicated to fostering a responsible industry that prioritises human rights and the welfare of children. With the goal of supporting all actors in our industry with guidance, tools, and insights from experts and members related to the prevention and mitigation of human rights impacts in company operations and value chains, we developed the Human Rights Navigator. Download the complete Human Rights Navigator for more information on the specific risks in the watch and jewellery industry, and guidance on how to operationalise your company’s Human Rights Due Diligence here: https://lnkd.in/e9kZtUHr Let's work together to ensure that our industry contributes to a world where children are free to learn, play, and grow in safe environments. Gender Equality is an important topic for any industry, but especially for the watch & jewellery industry. Gender bias is undermining our social fabric. Today, on World Oceans Day, we reflect on the critical state of our oceans and the urgent need for action. Covering over 70% of the Earth's surface, oceans regulate the climate, support diverse ecosystems, and sustain the livelihoods of billions. Despite their importance, our oceans are facing unprecedented challenges. Overfishing, pollution, and climate change are causing severe harm. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), oceans have absorbed about 90% of the excess heat generated by climate change, leading to ocean warming, acidification, and deoxygenation. The United Nations reports that approximately 8 million metric tons of plastic enter the ocean each year, impacting marine life and ecosystems. At WJI 2030, we are committed to addressing these issues through working with climate and nature experts and our member to understand water footprinting and its relevance to our industry. Working together we can identify water-related risks in regions where the watch and jewellery industry sources materials, share expectations and strategies related to corporate water responsibilities, and develop actionable plans for sustainable water use. We believe that by implementing these steps, we can make a positive impact on ocean health and biodiversity. The path forward requires collective effort, innovation, and a commitment to transformative action. Together, we can contribute to the restoration and preservation of our oceans for future generations. Today, we join the global community in celebrating World Environment Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness and taking action for the protection of our environment. This year's theme, “Land Restoration, desertification and drought resilience" resonates deeply with our mission at the Watch and Jewellery Initiative 2030 (WJI 2030). In light of this significant day, we are proud to highlight the launch of our Nature Roadmap, unveiled last week at the JCK Las Vegas Sustainability Summit. This framework is the first of its kind for the watch and jewellery industry, providing businesses with the tools and guidance needed to address the urgent nature and biodiversity crisis. Why the Nature Roadmap Matters: • Ecosystem Restoration: Our industry relies on the rich biodiversity and natural resources that our planet offers. By implementing  the recommendations in the Nature Roadmap, businesses can play a crucial role in ecosystem restoration and biodiversity preservation. • Sustainable Practices: The roadmap outlines practical steps for integrating biodiversity into business strategies, fostering sustainable practices that benefit both the environment and business operations. • Collective Action: As a living document, the Nature Roadmap will continuously evolve, adapting to new challenges and opportunities in the nature-business landscape. On this World Environment Day, we reaffirm our commitment to promoting sustainable practices and protecting our natural world. We invite all industry stakeholders to join us on this journey towards a nature-positive future. To download the Nature Roadmap, please visit: https://lnkd.in/dMvV7cAM Together we can make a difference in halting biodiversity loss and protecting the environment. We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the Nature Roadmap yesterday at the JCK Sustainability Summit. This year's Summit brought together industry leaders, experts, and visionaries to discuss the critical challenges and opportunities in sustainability. We were honoured to have Marie-Claire Daveu, Chief Sustainability and Institutional Affairs Officer, Kering and M Sanjayan, CEO of Conservation International join our Executive Director and Secretary General, Iris Maria Alexis Van der Veken, in panel on Empowering the Change: A Fireside Chat on Nature & Climate Solutions, where we introduced the Nature Roadmap. Our industry depends on the biological diversity, natural resources, and ecosystem services provided by nature. With biodiversity loss and climate change posing significant risks, it is crucial to take collective action. The Nature Roadmap is designed to help companies understand and manage their relationship with nature, ultimately creating value for both their operations and the environment. What the Nature Roadmap offers: Practical tools and insights to integrate biodiversity into business strategies. As a living document, it will continuously evolve, staying relevant and effective in a rapidly changing landscape. Why now: The urgent nature and biodiversity crisis require immediate action. The world is losing biodiversity at an alarming rate, and climate change is accelerating the loss of ecosystems. This moment calls for nature-positive solutions that can halt and reverse biodiversity loss. The Nature Roadmap offers a clear path for our industry to make meaningful contributions to this global challenge. Join us: The Nature Roadmap is a significant step towards a sustainable future for our industry. We invite all industry players to engage with it and contribute to creating a nature-positive future.
