𝐎𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 It was an honour for Clara Richter to interview H.E. Rosalía Arteaga Serrano, former President of Ecuador. She is a social activist, writer, and the first woman to hold the President and Vice President positions in her country. Rosalía paves the way for countless women in Ecuador, in South America and globally. She experienced first-hand how male chauvinism can have horrendous consequences for an individual’s trajectory, women rights, and ideals: When she became President in 1997, the National Congress rewrote the constitution resulting in her being forced to give up her position. Since then, Rosalía relentlessly pursues the equality of women, social justice, and inclusion, for instance through Fundación FIDAL. The one advice she would like to give to other women who are seeking to make an impact is to “𝘣𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥, 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵.” Read the whole conversation with H.E. Our founder Clara met Jennifer at the St. Gallen Symposium this year, where she had the great honour to speak on a panel with her. At IMD, Jennifer most recently developed a new programme called “Women on Boards”, targeted at women to step onto the board of companies and being successful in their roles. The focus of the programme is especially on the psychological dynamics and challenges that are unique for women. The first edition was a great success. During our conversation, we spoke about what life experience Jennifer has most grown from. For her, being a parent has taught her to be sincere with others, instead of always needing to feel authentic, especially when such authenticity does not serve those who need you. When asked what resource more people shall take use of, Jennifer shares that having space for quietness can be so valuable. Particularly, in this world where there is so much noise and where you can always get easily (digitally) distracted. ↓ ↓ ↓ Learn about Jennifer by clicking the link in the comments. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹 Co-hosted by Women With Impact and Global Shapers Community Bern the topic of last week’s panel was 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄: 𝗙𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗨𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘆. We shed light on the crucial need for gender diversity in leadership roles in Switzerland. Despite substantial progress, the road to gender equality is still fraught with challenges. For instance, women hold less than one-quarter of the world’s board seats, around 8% of the world’s boards are chaired by women and 6% of CEOs are women (Deloitte, 2024). The causes of inequality are multifold and exist at the socio-cultural, the systemic and the individual level. During the panel, we touched on all three and reiterated the strengths of taking action at either level. To help reach gender equality, the following advice was shared: -      Pro-diversity choices – no matter the setting – are crucial for societal progress. If you are in a role where you can nominate others, do open the doors for those currently being underrepresented. -      In order to reduce the gender pay and pension gap, striving to work 100% is the fundament for financial independence. -      Do not listen too much to your surroundings, especially when there is a strong disbelief in your idea or dreams. -      Identify and execute on opportunities, even if they are not on your plans. -      Seek mentors which challenge you to grow and whom you can learn from. Our audience was inspired by the following quotes: Katrin Eggenberger, Ph.D.,: “Just do what you feel you love the most and are most passionate about. The passion for a topic itself is the most important in life.” Andrea Rauber Saxer: “In order to make a career, you have to be determined, you need courage.” Carolina Müller-Möhl: “Choosing a partner and an environment which fully supports you on your professional journey and career goals is crucially important.” ↓ ↓ ↓ 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸’𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁?
