MD, Ph.D., Member of WSO, EAN, Advisory board member of MENA Stroke, local coordinator of Ain Shams Uni hospitals SITS and RESQ sites, Associate Professor of Neurology at Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, Egypt
Within our two days workshop of the future stroke leaders program in abu dhabi we were accommodated by Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, we had an opportunity to check upon the acute stroke pathway process and the awareness brochures that are distributed along the stroke unit, and the Neurology department. As we are approaching the 29th of October the world awareness stroke day, it is of crucial importance to increase the awareness among two arms of the stroke care process. - The medical personnel arm, so as to rapidly manage cases received on the hospital doors (the door to needle and the door to groin) as well as cases that encounter stroke inhospital. - The public arm, so as to rapidly transfer their patients to a fitting hospital in management applying the FAST acronym or the BE-FAST one. Together we are bigger than stroke. World Stroke Organization Future Stroke Leaders Programme World Stroke Academy #stroke_awareness

Celebrating decades of rare friendship and gratitude having served the WSO The World Stroke Conferences have an important role in facilitating personal meetings with inspiring persons from around the Globe. I had the privilege to again catch up with Goeff Donnan and Steve Davis for a re-union in Abu Dhabi at the World Stroke Congress. Goeff, me and Steve served as the first three Presidents of the WSO from the formation in 2006 framing the initial 10 years of the society. As WSO moves towards the 20th "birthday" (and the 2025 UNGA on NCDs as well), we are pleased to see the impressive organic growth and strengthening of the WSO, and the continual warm and supportive collegiate spirit that makes WSO so special. The "senate" of the past presidents (Goeff, myself, Steve, Werner Hacke, Michael Brainin, Marc Fisher, and (since yesterday) Sheila Martins) wishes the new president Jeyaraj Pandian all good luck, trusting WSO is in very good hands. Launching the Global Stroke Action Coalition As the global policy community starts to prepare for the 2025 UN High-Level Meeting on NCDS, we are excited to have convened the first global stroke advocacy coalition. Members of the Global Stroke Action Coalition represent scientific, patient and industry sectors from each global region, all committed to working together to provide a unified voice and to maximise visibility for stroke in key global and regional policy events and dialogues. As the second leading cause of mortality and third leading cause of disability globally, it is clear that there is no possibility of achieving SDG3 without specifically addressing stroke. We know what works, we can show how to implement it, and we know the potential return on investment. We CAN deliver stroke care for ALL and accelerate progress on global health and development goals.
