It has been an incredible privilege to be part of the writing group for the World Health Organization Framework for Stroke. Collaborating with esteemed colleagues and giants from World Stroke Organization, such as Sheila Cristina Ouriques Martins Jeyaraj Pandian Bo Norrving Maria (Mia) Fredin Grupper has been a truly enriching experience. This framework represents a significant step forward in providing clear, actionable guidance for countries to improve stroke care and outcomes. I am deeply inspired by the collective commitment to addressing the global burden of stroke and look forward to seeing the essential steps outlined in the framework being implemented worldwide. 📣 💥NEW Stroke Prevention Global Policy Brief 'Averting a Global Health Crisis - pragmatic policy interventions to prevent stroke', the latest in a growing series of WSO global policy briefing documents that aim to drive policy-maker awareness and urgent action on stroke ahead of the 4th UN High Level Meeting on NCDs. Prevention is the most effective and cost-efficient way to reduce the stroke burden. Over 80% of strokes are associated with identifiable risk factors for which there are clear, evidence-based interventions that demonstrate strong return on investment. For every $1 invested in stroke prevention, society sees a $10 return.
