  • The surging threat of climate change, coupled with massive ocean biodiversity loss and escalating pollution, has become an urgent call to action. Last week, this urgency catalyzed a transformative partnership between the Africa Climate and Environment Foundation and Youth Pawa, leading to the delivery of a crucial ocean-climate awareness education program at the remotely located Tsunza Comprehensive Primary School. Driven by the mission to fast-track time-bound Sustainable Development Goals and restore hope in reversing the devastating impacts of climate change, we are in a race against time to build climate-resilient communities. Central to this effort is the empowerment of young individuals, inspiring them to take active roles in shaping a sustainable future. We firmly believe that through meaningful collaboration and partnerships with like-minded organizations, we can collectively rise to the challenge and overcome this global menace. • 🎄 Happy Mazingira Day 🎄 Kenya 🇰🇪 On this Mazingira Day (Environment Day), we draw inspiration from the words of our own Nobel Prize winner, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐫 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐢 𝐌𝐚𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐢: "“𝙒𝙚 𝙤𝙬𝙚 𝙞𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙭𝙩 𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙫𝙞𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙨𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙗𝙚𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙣 𝙖 𝙨𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙛𝙞𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙡.” In collaboration with ACCOPPHE, Habitat Watchers, and the Mara Conservation Fund, we organized a cleanup along the Olaro Conservancy borders and Ngoswani Market centre. We were privileged to be joined by enthusiastic young environmentalists from Ngoswani Comprehensive and Secondary Schools. Our collective efforts resulted in a remarkable transformation. The once litter-strewn areas were restored to a clean and refreshing environment, as we proudly recorded the collection of 1,200 kilograms of waste. With each piece of litter removed, we took a significant step toward protecting our natural heritage and securing a greener future for generations to come. • 𝘼 𝙅𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙮 𝘽𝙚𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝘽𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨✈️🛫 Picture a vibrant exchange where international students, brimming with curiosity and ambition, journey to the heart of Africa to undertake a conservation course that transcends traditional boundaries. Here, in the vast and untamed wilderness, their classrooms are the savannas, wetlands, and forests—rich with biodiversity and teeming with life. These students come not just to learn but to experience, immersing themselves in rich cultural settings and connecting deeply with the natural world in ways that textbooks could never convey. Incorporating hands-on learning in wilderness survival skills becomes a true test of their resilience and adaptability. 𝘽𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙆𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙡𝙚𝙙𝙜𝙚🌍 In partnership with local grassroots schools, this educational venture becomes a powerful cultural fusion. As the international students delve into the realities of conservation on African soil, they work alongside local children who, in turn, gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies and knowledge from the developed world. The grassroots children, wide-eyed and eager, witness drone technology used for wildlife monitoring, advanced data collection methods, and innovative conservation tools that they had only ever heard of before. Through this collaboration, they glimpse the possibilities of blending traditional wisdom with modern approaches to protect their natural heritage. 𝘼 𝙈𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙛 𝘿𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙚 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙𝙨💫🌍 But the exchange goes beyond technology and knowledge; it’s a meeting of diverse cultural settings. International students find themselves not only learning about African ecosystems but also embracing local customs, languages, and ways of life. They share meals with host families, partake in community ceremonies, and learn the value of conservation practices rooted in generations of indigenous knowledge. In return, they introduce new perspectives, ideas, and practices that spark curiosity and innovation within the local community. 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙏𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙄𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣🌿: For the international students, this is more than just learning about ecosystems; it's about living within them. 𝘼 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥🤝: This experience enriches both groups in profound ways. The international students gain a visceral understanding of what it takes to protect the planet’s most fragile ecosystems, while the local children are inspired to dream bigger, seeing their own environment through a new lens of possibility. This partnership is a true blending of worlds and cultures, where the future of conservation is not just learned but felt, shared, and built together—on the sacred soil of Africa. #SDG4QualityEducation #ConservationBeyondBorders #Youths #Africa #triple_planetary_crisis #Habitat_watcher_foundation NEVILLE AGESA Tambe Honourine Enow Sharrif Injamu Robert Meya LYDIA KALEKYE Arab Bawa

  • On this day, the third Saturday of August, we commemorate World Honey Bee Day, celebrating the honey bee—an exquisite jewel of the natural world. This remarkable creature enchants with its delicate golden stripes and gossamer wings that glisten like stained glass in the morning sun. Each movement is a masterful choreography, a graceful dance among blossoms, where every flutter serves a purpose far beyond its beauty. In this dance, they carry the lifeblood of ecosystems, bridging the floral world with the food chains that rely on it. Honey bees are not just pollinators; they are architects of abundance, orchestrating the growth of fruits, vegetables, and seeds that feed an array of creatures, including us. Their alchemy of transforming mere nectar into honey is as miraculous as their role in sustaining life, a sweet tribute to their tireless labor. These tiny titans of the environment are proof that in the grand design of nature, even the smallest beings hold immense power, maintaining the delicate balance of biodiversity and ensuring the continuity of life on Earth. • We stand at the cutting edge of wildlife conservation, where innovation meets action to protect Africa's most iconic species. Our relentless pursuit of harmony between humans and the wild recently brought us face-to-face with the stark reality of a lion attack at a local Boma, where a cattle had fallen prey just a day before. This encounter is a vivid reminder of the fragile equilibrium we are committed to preserving. Collaboration is the heartbeat of our mission, driving our efforts to safeguard Africa’s rich and diverse wildlife. Central to our work is lion monitoring—a pivotal initiative that tackles the complex predator-livestock conflicts head-on. This program is more than just protection; it’s a lifeline for the majestic lions and the communities that share their landscape. Lions, with their undeniable majesty, present a formidable conservation challenge due to their predation on livestock. Yet, by spearheading proactive strategies to prevent such incidents, we are forging a future where both the pride of the savannah and the livelihoods of local communities can not only coexist but flourish. #HabitatWatchers #OlaroConservancy #LandscapesPartnership #LionMonitoring #LionConservation #CommunityOutreach NEVILLE AGESA Tambe Honourine Enow Sharrif Injamu Arab Bawa Robert Meya LYDIA KALEKYE
