The Independent Evaluation Office of NDB has just released its latest project performance evaluation –of the Putian Pinghai Bay Offshore Wind Power Project in China. The project aimed to generate 250MW of additional power and avoid 869,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions. Overall, we found that the project has been successful and contributed greatly to the generation of renewable power; and was noted for its innovative technology patents which have since been used in other offshore wind projects in China. NDB's first non-sovereign loan in China of 358 million RMB (approximately USD 50 million) to the Bank of Huzhou will support essential clean energy, transportation, water, and sanitation projects in Zhejiang Province. In a recent interview with CGTN, NDB's Director General, Han Bin, shared insights on how this loan will empower the Bank of Huzhou to on-lend to private sector borrowers. It will facilitate the development of innovative projects like rooftop solar, smart parking, and reservoir renovation.
