China and Nordic Countries expand trade cooperation China and the Nordic countries have significantly strengthened their trade and economic cooperation in recent years. In the first eight months of 2024, trade between China and five Nordic nations—Finland, Norway, Iceland, Sweden, and Denmark—reached $35.44 billion, marking a 5.7 percent increase from last year. Nordic countries are vital for foreign investment and significant destinations for Chinese investment. Since the beginning of the year, China’s direct investment in these nations totaled around $1 billion, making up over one-fifth of its total investment in Europe. https://lnkd.in/grw5QzP6

Finland’s President Stubb will be meeting with Xi in China Finland’s president, Alexander Stubb, will embark on a state visit to China from October 28 to October 31. During this visit, he will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other senior government officials. This Finland president visit to China aims to strengthen bilateral relations and address pressing global issues, including the war between Russia and Ukraine. China announces visa-free policy for Denmark China has today announced visa-free travel for Danish passport holders, following a meeting of the Danish and Chinese Foreign Ministers yesterday at the UN General Assembly in New York. Denmark is China’s only comprehensive strategic partner in Northern Europe, a relationship that has led the way in China’s ties with the Nordic region. This visa-free policy marks a significant milestone ahead of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, set to be celebrated next year.   This development is expected to boost tourism, trade, and cross-cultural exchanges between the two nations, enhancing the already strong bilateral relationship. China, Norway aim at green transition Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store here on Monday, saying that China is willing to work with Norway to promote the continuous development of friendly cooperation. China and Norway have agreed to establish a dialogue on the green transition, seeking to facilitate contacts and cooperation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, preserve and restore biodiversity and create new green industries and jobs. A joint statement, signed on Tuesday by Premier Li Qiang and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, said a biennial meeting coordinated by the two countries' foreign ministers will summarize progress and set new targets for the dialogue. https://lnkd.in/dCA5y3W3

White paper: China world's largest investor in energy transition China has become the world's largest investor in energy transition, contributing to global energy transition and a clean world, said a white paper released by China's State Council Information Office on Thursday. The country's investment in energy transition reached $676 billion in 2023, making it the world's largest investor in this field, according to the white paper. China has worked with more than 100 countries and regions on green energy projects, while its new energy industry has added to the global energy supply, eased global inflation pressures, and contributed to the global effort to combat climate change and transition to green development. https://lnkd.in/gcJUpvnK
