Medellin, 29 October 2024 : Alma Air the company that aims to lead the air transport industry in non-scheduled seaplane air services, is pleased to announce the appointment of Rupert Stebbings, until now Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He will take up the position with immediate effect. Stebbings will also continue to lead the commercial strategy. Operations will begin on the Caribbean coast in the first quarter of 2025 and Stebbings is eager for them to start even earlier: ‘It is an honour to be at the helm of what will be the historic return of seaplanes to Colombia. In my role as CCO I have spent the last six months travelling, sitting down and meeting with a wide range of officials and executives from the public and private sectors respectively, the enthusiasm for what Alma is creating is palpable. We have an excellent team already hard at work on the regulatory proposals, documentation and manuals for the certification process, and we hope to have the green light from the various authorities as soon as possible’. The public hearing took place Aeronáutica Civil de Colombia on 12 September and Alma is awaiting the decision of the President of the Aeronautical Technical Committee to move on to the certification phase. In parallel to awaiting the Aerocivil decision, Alma has been in permanent contact with other key public authorities, including the Ministerio de Transporte de Colombia and Dirección General Marítima - Dimar, to move forward in an articulated manner. This includes the proposal of Colombia's first seaplane regulation, as well as the initiative to engage in a process of education with all relevant stakeholders on the non-environmental impact of seaplanes.

Today CCO Rupert Stebbings and COO Jhon Luna took the next important step towards Alma Air bringing the majesty of seaplanes back to Colombia after decades of absence. Alma today presented to Aeronáutica Civil de Colombia at a public audience in Bogota and first and foremost everyone at Alma would like to thank all of the executive at Aerocivil. Not just for their valuable time today but also over recent weeks and months as they worked with ourselves in an articulated way to bring this audience to fruition. At the same time we have been working with both Aerocivil & Dirección General Marítima - Dimar towards the first seaplane regulation in Colombia history. It is vital that such a watershed moment is accompanied by transparency and respect for all aspects of the environment. We also extend that gratitude to the Governors of Bolivar, Magdalena and La Guajira as well as the Mayoral offices of Cartagena, Mompox, Magangue & Santa Marta who delivered letters of support. But those letters were just a few of the 30+ we delivered to Aerocivil. From the top tourist agencies such as Galavanta | Colombia Tailored Travel & Abercrombie & Kent to hotels such as AURA HOTEL BARU Hotel Las Américas & Las Islas we thank you. We also thank important entities such as PROCOLOMBIA , Invest in Cartagena y Bolívar, Cartagena de Indias Convention & Visitors Bureau Bureau Santa Marta Cotelco Capitulo Cartagena y Bolívar & Grupo Argos for the same strong support - not to mention patience and learning offered. There are so many more and even more on the way as we continue to travel Colombia in search of new destinations - each meeting appears to bring a new idea or mystic place we need to visit. This is just the start of the journey but we are honoured at Alma to be accepted by all of the aforementioned as the first serious proposal for the return of seaplane travel to Colombia. We hope to see you all soon in some remote corner of Colombia that few have visited and most didn't know existed. dec ryan Michael Lynch Brian Mulvihill Natalia Laverde Matthieu Le Nouaille Francisco Javier Lalinde Pulido M Susana Mantilla Alfonso Plana Boden Alcaldia de Cartagena de Indias Alcaldía De Santa Cruz De Mompós Gobernación del Atlántico Gobernación de Bolívar Alcaldía de Santa Marta D.T.C.H. Our deepest thanks to all at Tropic Ocean Airways for sharing their valuable time with Alma Air COO Jhon Luna allowing him to literally take a look under the hood. He eventually found the anchor as well ! Good business is about humility and seeking the best partners to learn from. As we move forward with Aeronáutica Civil de Colombia and Dirección General Marítima - Dimar we are constantly increasing our understanding of seaplanes and all they will offer to Colombia and it's spectacular destinations in the very near future. Is is a plane or is it a boat ? Soon enough Colombians will be able to judge for themselves. dec ryan Rupert Stebbings Francisco Javier Lalinde Pulido Matthieu Le Nouaille Michael Lynch Brian Mulvihill

CCO Rupert Stebbings was at Olaya Herrara today visiting and sharing ideas with our friends at Volar Colombia, our thanks for your time.
19 years in Colombia, a beguiling and frustrating country of opportunity. .A truly independent voice, in no-one's pocket. Here to help & advise, even if the truth isn't what you want to hear. Leadership can't be studied.
My thanks to Carlos Londoño and all at Volar Colombia for a look around their wonderful facilities in Medellin. Helicopters, planes and the pilot school with around 200 students. At Alma Air we are constantly seeking new friendships within the airline sector and Volar seem a fine choice. * It may look like I was on the forecourt picking a small plane for myself - looks can be very deceptive.*

I recently had the opportunity to visit our good friends at Tropic Ocean Airways and medivac is an important part of their offering. At Alma Air we too have air ambulance services firmly on the radar as we go forward. We have already held discussions with healthcare providers, clinics and hospitals, both private and public, and quite clearly Colombia is a country full of inaccessible locations. But as a country with 2 extensive coastlines, 20,000 of rivers and 3000 lakes, the arrival of seaplanes will bring many currently isolated communities closer to healthcare facilities that are currently dangerously distant. #Healthcare #Community #Seaplanes #AirAmbulance #Medivac
