Ever heard of vertical singularities? They’re the hidden forces reshaping industries — and at Retri, we’ve found ours. Last week, I had an inspiring meeting with the Foundamental team, and I was amazed at how easily they understood what we’re building at Retri . Their focus on vertical singularities aligns perfectly with our mission and the impact we’re creating in the construtech sector. Coincidentally, I ended the week visiting a construction company in Bogotá. Their yard reflected a reality we see in almost all construction companies in LATAM: underutilized machinery waiting for a new project to start operating again. At Retri, our purpose is to turn these “downtimes” into revenue opportunities. We enable these construction companies to monetize their idle machinery, allowing them to maintain it better and extend its lifespan. For those of us in the industry, this solution feels so obvious that many ask, “Why wasn’t this done before?” We often hear that Retri is like “the Uber of machinery.” The financial statements of many construction companies are filled with assets that, due to lack of use, almost turn into a “graveyard” of machinery. Retri is creating a mega-shift in the industry: we want to triple access to machinery in the region, change how new machinery is acquired, and offer a single inventory for any project needs. Today, just two years in, we have successfully rented out more than 450 machines to over 150 clients, and we work with 130 machine owners. With minimal investment, we’ve built one of the largest machinery inventories in Colombia, with more than 1,500 machines. For us and our clients in the industry, the opportunity is clear. It may not be as obvious for outsiders yet, but we’re confident that we’re set to transform the sector in the real world in Latam Thanks to: Shubhankar Bhattacharya and Irénée Martre
