What an unforgettable three days at #Gen_E 2024 in Catania, Europe's Largest Entrepreneurship Festival! This year’s festival was full of creativity and entrepreneurial energy. From rescue robots and assistive tech to AI software that predicts energy consumption, the ideas presented were nothing short of spectacular! I was honored to serve as a member of the jury and witness young visionaries, educators, business leaders, and policy-makers from across Europe come together to share their passion and ingenuity. Catania's vibrant atmosphere, with the backdrop of the beautiful Sicily and the eruption of Etna volcano 🌋 , made this event even more memorable. A heartfelt thank you to JA Europe for this incredible initiative and to JA Italia for the impeccable organization. A highlight was the new oncology care workshop, which provided valuable insights on integrating innovative solutions into oncology practices chaired by Valentina Dini, Marisa Matos, Hédi Chabanol, and Paulo Ramos. 📊 Key Takeaways: ✔ Underestimation of Skin Toxicity: Cancer-related skin toxicity profoundly affects patients’ Quality of Life (QoL), yet it's often overlooked during consultations. ✔ Emotional Toll: The emotional impact of skin toxicities remains underassessed, especially concerning how women experience more severe QoL deterioration than men. ✔ Most Severe Conditions: Acneiform rash and Hand-Foot syndrome emerge as particularly distressing side effects from targeted therapies and chemotherapy, respectively. ✔ Widespread Impact: Astonishingly, 95% of patients experience skin changes during treatments, including radiotherapy, highlighting an urgent need for tailored dermatological care.
