Showcasing #sustainability projects from our #network. Today, we're focusing on MeetDenmark. MeetDenmark has launched a new project aimed at providing more plant-based #food at #conferences and meetings. 🌱 The goal is to give meeting organizers and kitchens greater knowledge about green foods and to test how to incorporate more #plant-based meals onto the plates during these events.🌾 One effective strategy in the fight against #CO2 emissions 🌍 is to re-duce the amount of meat served at #Danish conference and #meeting tables. By replacing animal proteins with plant-based alternatives, it’s possi-ble to create healthy dishes that are both flavorful and satisfying for hungry conference attendees.🫘🥗 This message was emphasized during the first workshop where chefs and front-of-house staff at Hotel Scandic Aarhus City participated as part of the project called ‘Nudging towards Green Choices: Plant-Based Dining Experiences for Conferences and Meetings.’ Throughout the project, various nudging #techniques and menu set-ups are being experimented with, resulting in valuable #knowledge and #experiences that will be shared with the broader #industry. #strategicalliance #thenationalconventionbureauxofeurope #sustainability MeetDenmark

🌟 German Convention Bureau: “right and fair” Code 🚀 “right and fair” (German: “fairpflichtet”) is the sustainability code of the German-speaking events industry. Initiated in 2012 by the German Convention Bureau and the EVVC e.V. European Association of Event Centers, “right and fair” empowers event organizers to showcase their commitment to sustainable practices and set new standards for responsible event management. 💚 Voluntary commitment to sustainability The initiative is a voluntary commitment to corporate responsibility for sustainability in internal company organization as well as event management. It provides practical guidelines and inspiration for event organizers, enabling them to transparently document their sustainable activities in their “right and fair” sustainability profile. 📊 Transparent documentation of sustainable activities The sustainability profiles are the core element of the “right and fair” code: Members document their sustainable measures and goals and regularly update progress. To facilitate comparison for stakeholders, the code specifies how information should be provided, and member companies must publish their profiles on their websites for transparent sustainability communication. 🌍 Aligning with UN Sustainable Development Goals The right and fair initiative selected three relevant SDGs Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015, aiming to track SDG implementation at the municipal level in Germany. Gender Equality, Responsible Consumption and Production, and Climate Action for the event industry are integrated into the code’s sustainability guidelines to promote global sustainable structures and contribute to economic, social, and environmental development. Thank you to all the right & fair members for creating a positive impact and leading the way towards a more sustainable future. 🌍 👉 Discover more about “right & fair” here: https://lnkd.in/eBr3Dwwp #fairpflichtet #sustainability #events #mice #meetings #sustainabledevelopment

Slovenia, nestled in the heart of Europe, is renowned for its lush landscapes and dense forests, reflecting its culture of environmental stewardship. Slovenians deeply appreciate nature, valuing both its beauty and sustainability. Reflecting this ethos, Slovenia Meetings leads by example in promoting sustainable practices. By advocating for certified green venues, supporting eco-friendly event planning practices, fostering educational programs on sustainability for the Slovenia Meetings community, and embarking on new sustainability projects and certifications, they demonstrate how national convention bureaux can effectively shape a greener future for the events industry. Slovenia Meetings actively promotes its "Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism",endorsing green-certified venues and supporting eco-friendly practices in event planning to enhance sustainability. Through the scheme, Slovenia became one of the first countries to adopt the Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism (GSST): https://lnkd.in/eyEwPQEM This commitment is mirrored in the meetings and events industry through the Slovenia Meetings community, which focuses on sustainable practices. For instance, Slovenia Meetings recently highlighted a successful example of sustainable practices at the Advances in Robot Kinematics 2024 (#ARK 2024) conference, held at Cankarjev dom - CD Congress Centre Ljubljana, the Bureau's long-standing esteemed member and Slovenia's legendary congress centre. Beyond structured sessions, exploring Slovenia through social programmes and catering offers authentic cultural insights. The event featured visits to the Slovenian cultural and natural heritage sites, as well as evenings at local restaurants showcasing Slovenia's culinary delights. These activities created a comprehensive and memorable conference experience, highlighting the importance of integrating local culture into professional events. Jezersek Catering, Slovenia's leading event catering company, exemplified sustainable practices at the Conventa Trade Show by introducing a zero food waste concept. They demonstrated this commitment at Conventa's gala reception with the Smart Scale and Eco Guardian Bin, an AI-powered tool to measure food waste. Additionally, they offered sustainable, local, and seasonal dishes as alternatives to meat-based options to reduce their carbon footprint. Their sustainable business strategy for 2021–2027, focusing on minimizing food waste, further underscores their leadership in the industry. Learn more about their initiatives here: https://lnkd.in/d745bvGE Lastly, the renowned Conventa Trade Show has committed to furthering sustainability with its latest edition. 🌿 We continue to introduce you to our #network and #projects, highlighting our ongoing efforts and innovations in #sustainability. 🌿 🔊 Within ten years, #CO2 emissions must be reduced to nearly zero while people continue to #travel, #meet, and #experience new things. Sweden's long-standing tradition of #sustainability work has made it a frontrunner and #advocate of sustainability measures. To decouple meetings and events from CO2 #emissions, a project has been initiated to integrate sustainability, innovation, and positive environmental impact in event management. This project, led by the research institute RISE, is a city-industry-academia #cooperation focusing on climate-related measures. It involves transportation, accommodation, food, and other energy-intensive resources, identifying areas where organisers can make a difference in #collaboration with #suppliers and #participants. 👉 The goal is to showcase #Swedish innovation to benefit the local hospitality industry. #Developing, #testing, and #evaluating groundbreaking solutions bring us closer to sustainable, emission-free meetings and events. But it doesn’t stop there. The project aims to spur #transport and #mobility innovations, inspiring other cities and regions worldwide to replicate these efforts. Recognizing the power of influence, a tool has been created for meeting delegates to help and inspire them to make climate-smart choices for traveling, accommodation, and dining. #Organisers will be provided with a #climate planning tool that offers knowledge and innovative solutions while allowing them to monitor #meeting #emissions and track improvements over time. This tool is designed to enhance event sustainability communication by establishing clear goals for events, such as surpassing previous climate pledges. ☘Small actions can lead to big changes.#Collaboration is truly the #key to unlocking a #greener #future.☘ RISE Research Institutes of Sweden Göteborgs universitet Business Region Göteborg AB Göteborg & Co Got Event AB Einride Liseberg Lugerinc AB MTR EXPRESS VOLVO INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AB EC2B Mobility AB GLC Europe OK ekonomisk förening SMArt řešení Goteborg-Energi Nobina AS Voi Technology Compass Consulting Group Inc.
