Welcome back to our colleague Sebastian de Rooy. 🥳 Sebastian joined Allianz X as an intern in the Platforms & Acquisitions Team in June 2024. During his internship, he stood out thanks to his great work. We are happy that he returned to Allianz X as an Analyst after successfully completing his master’s degree in finance at the Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics.    In his new role, he will support the team in all aspects of deal sourcing, structuring, and execution, as well as focusing on market screening, due diligence, and valuation of target companies.  Prior to Allianz X, Sebastian gained valuable experience at PwC in the audit and valuation department and at Allianz in the payment transactions department.  We’re happy to have you back, Sebastian! 💐

In a strategic move to expand its footprint in the European ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) sector, AlTi Tiedemann Global has acquired Kontora, a prestigious independent wealth manager based in Hamburg, Germany. Following a strategic investment by Allianz X and Constellation Wealth Capital in AlTi of as much as USD 450 million in February 2024, this latest development builds on the momentum of two notable acquisitions by AlTi in the U.S. and the launch last December of the AlTi-Allianz Private Debt Program via a joint venture. A portion of the funding from Allianz X was earmarked for AlTi’s expansion into Germany, reflecting the opportunity within the German wealth management market. “By capitalizing on our strategic partnership and joint venture with AlTi, Kontora clients will gain unprecedented access to premium investment opportunities in private markets,” said Dr. Nazim Cetin, CEO of Allianz X. 2025 is set to be a landmark year for private markets, according to Private Equity Magazin. 📈 The integration of private wealth investors into the private markets landscape has been a subject of interest for several years. However, while in 2023 and 2024 only a few pioneers took the first steps and many market participants adopted a wait-and-see approach, the initially slow progress is now giving way to a clear momentum: more and more asset managers and private markets specialists are actively focusing on private wealth investors. This marks a new phase in the democratization of private markets, transitioning from theory to practice.   Global private wealth was estimated at $275.2 trillion in 2023, with projections to rise to $367 trillion by 2028. However, only about 2-3% of this wealth is currently invested in private markets, according to S&P Global.
