#BerlinIstKultur—Stop cultural cutbacks! We support the campaign of Berlin’s cultural scene in light of the impending budget cutbacks in the cultural sector! BERLIN IS CULTURE. It characterises Berlin's image. With cutbacks in culture, Berlin will lose part of its face and its radiance. It might cause irreparable damage to the city’s cultural landscape and beyond. Today, on the Aktionstag #BerlinIstKultur, a day of action, there will be a variety of protests in Berlin's cultural institutions throughout the city. You can find more information on the @berlinistkultur Instagram channel. Together, we are sending a strong signal against cultural cutbacks. Do you want to support us? Then sign the petition of the Deutscher Bühnenverein / Landesverband Berlin against these cuts: https://lnkd.in/etbbqFzi . As a project by Kulturprojekte Berlin we support the campaign together with Berlin Bühnen, Draussenstadt, Fußballkultursommer, EMOP Berlin, Kulturzug / Pociąg do Kultury, Lange Nacht der Museen, 35 Jahre Mauerfall, Museumsjournal, Museumsportal, Museumssonntag, Kreativ Kultur Berlin, and Schaubude Berlin. 📷 Linus Muellerschoen

Our Journal is out and we couldn’t be more delighted to kick it off with a special feature on the artist Gisèle Vienne. Head to our website to read about Gisèle Vienne’s versatile practice, carefully observed by author Beate Scheder. During #BerlinArtWeek in September, the artistic work of Austrian French artist, choreographer and director Gisèle Vienne (*1976) will be shown for the first time in Berlin as part of a joint exhibition project by Haus am Waldsee, Georg Kolbe Museum and Sophiensæle. Her multi-layered work will be brought to life in the exhibition space and on stage. In the exhibition at Haus am Waldsee, directed as a play and developed especially for Haus am Waldsee, Vienne creates a field of tension between self-determination and heteronomy, questioning frames of perception. The opening will take place on 11 SEP at 7pm. At Georg Kolbe Museum, Gisèle Vienne’s works and those of female artists of the European avant-garde will enter into a dialogue that is both ambiguous and humorous. Come by the opening on 12 SEP at 6pm. Gisèle Vienne’s film ›Jerk‹ (F, 2021) will be shown at Sophiensæle on 15 SEP at 2pm. Using the means of genre and horror film, ›Jerk‹ takes the profound experience of mechanisms of violence to the extreme: a reduced film on questions of power relations, incarnation and the disembodiment of bodies.
