The invisible work behind visible changes 2025 has been running for a little over one month now-the #projects are in full swing and new ideas are taking shape. When talking about environmental projects, many people think of impressive results: renaturalised river landscapes, green cities, new habitats for endangered species. But what often remains invisible is the work behind these successes. Every environmental project starts with an #idea - but it's a long way from the first sketch to realisation. It takes #people to develop strategies, write funding applications, coordinate complex partnerships and hold countless meetings. It takes patience, expertise and the ability to maintain an overview, even when conditions change. This invisible work is the foundation for visible change. It is quiet, often complex - and yet indispensable when it comes to achieving (Europe's) major environmental goals. At blue! advancing european projects, we are proud to support these processes. Together with our partners, we set ideas in motion, #connect people and create structures so that environmental projects not only get off the ground, but also have a long-term #impact and with that we are looking forward to what this year will bring!

𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗹? The fast fashion industry has revolutionized the way we consume clothing—but at what cost? Beneath the glitz and glamour lies a hidden toll on our #planet, our people, and our future. Did you know? 💡 #CarbonEmissions: Fast fashion accounts for 10% of global CO₂ emissions, more than aviation and maritime shipping combined. 💡 #WaterWaste: Producing a single cotton shirt uses 2,700 liters of water—the equivalent of what one person drinks in 2.5 years. 💡 #TextileLandfills: 92 million tons of clothing waste end up in landfills annually, contributing to environmental degradation. 💡 #LaborExploitation: Behind the scenes, many workers endure poor conditions and unfair wages to meet the demand for "cheap" clothing. On the flip side, #fairfashion is gaining momentum—prioritizing #sustainability, ethical production, and longer-lasting quality. At blue! advancing european projects, we are proud to support efforts that drive sustainable practices in fashion. Our colleague Marga Molina will attend a seminar next week in Toulouse to dive deeper into these critical issues and explore innovative solutions for the industry. 👉 How can we, as individuals and businesses, push for meaningful change in fashion? Have you come across brands or movements leading the way toward sustainability? Let’s discuss! 𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙨𝙤𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙧 𝙛𝙞𝙚𝙡𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙫𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙨? 𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙬𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙤𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙨 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙢𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙞𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙨𝙚? ... it is relevant to be able to imagine land take: In Austria alone, an area of 18 soccer fields is sealed EVERY DAY! Competing interets, dealt with in parallel sectors, prevent an #integrated approach to tackling the problem. We from blue! advancing european projects are happy to say "we did it again": This time, we supported the successful application of an Interreg Alpine Space project called "Brokering Spaces", led by Manuela Brückler and Philipp Vesely from the SIR - Salzburger Institut für Raumordnung und Wohnen GmbH. BrokeringSpaces will strive to find a system that achieves multiple objectives: reconcile different land use interests, create a more resilient planning system, fight land take and increase the performance of ecosystem services. The project starts out from the very foundation of spatial planning and will revitalise traditional tools that are far more sustatinable than current "ways to go". Possible ways to move forward: 🍀 𝙍𝙚𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙨𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜! as an approach to integrated a multitude of sectors. 🍀 𝙍𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙚 𝙚𝙭𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤𝙤𝙡𝙨 that able to integrate differing sectors. A multitude of constructive planning tools or stakeholder integration approaches exists. 🍀 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣! ... not only necessarily scientific literature! For example, the touching book of Bettina Balàka "vom Zähmen, Ausbeuten und Bestauen", that analyses the bashing of "nature conservation" as "sentimental", altough is is a fundamental socioeoconomic need. 🍀 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙨 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙛 𝙤𝙛 𝙖𝙣 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙡, 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙤𝙗𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚. Look at the picture: A clear view on strategic priorities in an integrated system. 🍀 𝘿𝙤 𝙞𝙩 𝙩𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧! #EU funding programmes such as #Interreg pave the way to implementing multi-national & multisectoral solutions! Dorothea H. Palenberg will gladly report from the #GetStarted Seminar in #Salzburg that will be hosted as of today. #ClimateResilience #SpatialPlanning #EUFunding

It is essential for securing biodiversity and enhancing resilience against environmental changes. Recently, we at blue! advancing european projects had the honor of moderating an international workshop on behalf of BfN and the Alpine Convention, bringing together representatives from various countries to discuss this critical topic and exchange knowledge. We are happy to support project development, discussions, and knowledge exchange towards nature restoration and biodiversity strengthening. 💡 Global Collaboration: Experts from multiple countries united to share insights and strategies on restoring nature in the Alpine region. 💡 Enhancing Biodiversity: Focusing on restoration efforts that secure and boost biodiversity for a resilient ecosystem. 💡 Supporting Initiatives: At blue!, we are proud to facilitate projects and dialogues that drive nature restoration and strengthen biodiversity.
