What happens when automation and digitalization meet formulation development? We’re about to find out! Our upcoming Automated Laboratory is set to revolutionize coatings and adhesives development, allowing us to test tens of thousands of formulations per year – faster, smarter, and more customer-specific. 🔎 This automated facility will also generate a large amount of structured data. The collected data, combined with measurement data from existing studies, is evaluated using special machine learning algorithms to further improve formulations for hardness, adhesion, gloss, durability and more. It also helps to accelerate the testing of partly bio-based and recycled raw materials. We are raising our ambitions - for energy efficiency and climate neutrality. As part of our climate strategy, we have published our energy efficiency target: By 2030, we want to use 20 percent less energy per tonne of product than we did in 2020, which equates to around 550,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions - roughly the same as the annual CO2 emissions of a city with around 70,000 inhabitants. The new target underlines our path to climate neutrality and shows ✅ Sustainable production is not a ‘nice-to-have’, but a must. ✅ Energy efficiency is a key lever for a sustainable industry. Yesterday, we celebrated: our toluene diisocyanate (TDI) plant in Dormagen is now more energy-efficient than ever using 80% less energy than conventional processes and saving 22,000 tons of CO₂ per year! 🌍 That means our customers can benefit from an improved carbon footprint in their flexible foam applications: from mattresses and upholstery to automotive seating. But we're not stopping here! Yesterday, at the official launch event in Dormagen, we also announced our new global energy efficiency goal: By 2030, we aim to reduce CO₂ emissions per ton of product by 20%, reinforcing our commitment to climate neutrality by 2035. Sustainable upgrade for our TDI production! We have successfully completed the modernization of our TDI plant in Dormagen, the largest TDI plant in Europe. A major step towards greater sustainability and energy efficiency: 🔹Up to 80% less energy consumption compared to conventional production processes 🔹An annual CO₂ saving of 22,000 tons This improvement is enabled by a new reactor with HPG technology, which cleverly uses the resulting reaction energy to generate steam. We are delighted that NRW Environment Minister Oliver Krischer and the Director of Agora Industrie Julia Metz, together with our CTO Thorsten Dreier, were guests at the official inauguration of the plant in Dormagen today.
