🇩🇪 Germany added 959.6 MW of new solar power capacity in September, making it the second slowest month for solar growth in 2024, just ahead of August. Data from the Federal Network Agency shows that, with these latest additions, the country’s total installed solar capacity has now reached 94.3 GW. From January to September, Germany added 11,373 MW of solar capacity, 🌞with Bavaria leading the way at 2,713 MW, followed by North Rhine-Westphalia (1,604 MW), Baden-Wuerttemberg (1,558 MW), and Lower Saxony (1,155 MW). In the wind energy sector, September saw the installation of 199.4 MW of new onshore wind capacity, an increase from the 188.8 MW added in August, pushing Germany's total onshore wind capacity to 62.52 GW. 🌍 What’s more exciting is the surge in approvals for new onshore wind projects:📈: 2,688 MW of capacity received development clearance in September alone, a significant jump from 892.6 MW in August. In total, 10,048 MW of new wind projects were authorised in the first nine months of 2024. So, how do you see Germany's renewable growth shaping the global energy landscape? Interesting autumn report from WindEurope! 📊 WindEurope's latest autumn report shows that Europe 🇪🇺 added 6.4 GW of new wind farms in the first half of the year. Germany 🇩🇪 led the way, contributing 1.7 GW, followed by France 🇫🇷 with 1.2 GW and Spain 🇪🇸 with 876 MW. This brings Europe's total wind power capacity to an impressive 278 GW. Other Key findings reveals that: 1️⃣ Turbine orders have risen by 11% compared to 2023, with auction volumes remaining strong, resulting in 19.7 GW of new capacity awarded. 2️⃣ Final Investment Decisions (FIDs) for new onshore and offshore wind farms surpassed €15.4 billion, set to fund 9.1 GW of additional wind power capacity. 3️⃣ Several EU Member States are currently implementing the provisions outlined in the Renewable Energy Directive (RED). Seven countries now have a streamlined "one-stop shop" for administrative processes, while 14 have introduced deadlines for authorities to approve all required permits. (Refer to Slide 2) 🌍 The wind is blowing in the right direction, but it’s time to speed things up. With the right focus on grid and permitting, Europe’s wind energy potential is limitless!
