🌿💻 On the 18th March 2025, D4AgEcol project, along with PATH2DEA and ReForest , co-organised a #webinar on digitalisation in sustainable farming, within the #AgroecologyCluster. The event brought together policymakers, researchers, and practitioners to discuss how #digitaltools can drive sustainability, resilience, and innovation in agriculture. 📢 Key #insight: Digitalisation is more than just technology—it’s about empowering farmers, enhancing decision-making, and de-risking investments for a more resilient agricultural system. #Takeaways: 🌍 Miguel Fernández (DG AGRI) presented the EU’s Digital Strategy for Agriculture, emphasising the importance of data governance, research, and advisory services to support farmers in transitioning towards climate-smart and technology-driven agriculture. Digitalisation is central to boosting economic performance, resilience, and sustainability across the sector. 📊 Evangelos Anastasiou, from our project, presented the D4AgEcol project Platform (https://lnkd.in/dqT4EHy5), designed to support agroecological transitions through digitalisation, demonstrating its potential to enhance data collection , knowledge sharing 📚, and decision-making 🤝 for farmers. 💻 Tom Van Nieuwenhove (Inagro vzw) and Iride Volpi (AEDIT) (PATH2DEA) showcased technological tools compatible with agroecological practices, sharing practical examples from Belgium 🇧🇪 and Italy 🇮🇹 on how digital innovations can be tailored to support sustainable farming practices. 💡 Martin Lukac (ReForest) highlighted how digital platforms are unlocking investment opportunities in #agroforestry. He presented DeepRoots – an innovative digital platform that connects landowners with retail investors to scale up agroforestry initiatives. 🌳💰 However, financing remains a challenge! Martin stressed that while public finance is available, it is not sufficient. 🤝 Clustering activities! Our project partner, Evangelos Anastasiou, presented the D4AgEcol project at the ICAERUS EU workshop for spraying drones. Moreover, Evangelos Anastasiou presented the project within the EU funded ALIGNING project (https://lnkd.in/de9wCHqE) which aims at promoting agricultural innovation in Asian's least-developed agrarian countries by increasing, first, the innovation capacity of Asian HEIs, and second, by providing farmers and agribusiness practitioners, solutions for a more sustainable and climate-resilient business growth.
