Batch-to-batch variability in pharmaceutical manufacturing can lead to inconsistencies in product quality and process performance; a challenge that manufacturers must overcome to ensure efficiency and compliance. We are thrilled to announce the publication of a new research paper by our experts, in collaboration with Gericke Group, titled: "Optimizing Continuous Feeding of Poorly Flowing Excipients: Impact of Batch-to-Batch Variability and Process Design." This study highlights the critical role of excipient consistency in continuous manufacturing and demonstrates how Pharmatose® 200M delivers stable, predictable performance, helping pharmaceutical manufacturers achieve greater process reliability and formulation success. Key Takeaways for Manufacturers: ☑️ The study, based on over 400 batches, confirms that Pharmatose® 200M maintains excellent consistency, reducing process variability. ☑️ Pharmatose® 200M produced from Europe and New Zealand exhibits identical powder feeding behavior. ☑️ The study shows the importance of excipient consistency for continuous manufacturing as in an unoptimized feeder set-up, batch-to-batch variation does affect process performance. Gina Heimsoth and Timo Roelofs represented us at the HAN University of Applied Sciences Annual Career Day, where Timo delivered three insightful presentations to students, providing them with a deeper understanding of DFE Pharma and the role of excipients in pharmaceutical formulations. Following the sessions, both of them engaged with students at the networking market, answering questions and connecting with future talent. Also, Lisa Buijvoets and Maarten Jaspers encountered future leaders in chemistry and molecular life sciences at Radboud University in Nijmegen. Maarten's presentation and two one-hour networking sessions raised awareness about how our innovative solutions are transforming the industry. A big thank you to HAN University and Radboud University for hosting such engaging events. We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Sven Abend has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of DFE Pharma, effective February 1st, 2025. With 25 years of global business leadership experience and a proven track record of driving customer-centric strategies, Dr. Abend is well-positioned to lead DFE Pharma into the future. Dr. Abend joins us from Gelita, where he served as CEO, and brings extensive experience from roles at Lonza, Kolb, and Cognis. His expertise spans strategic leadership, operational excellence, and market innovation, underpinned by a PhD in Chemistry from Christian-Albrechts-Universität in Kiel, Germany. In his own words: "It is a very exciting time to join DFE Pharma. As a leading global company in excipient solutions, I am confident we can continue to grow the business and offer high-quality products and innovative services to our customers. I look forward to working with my new colleagues and driving the company to greater success." After three impactful years with DFE Pharma, our CEO, Martti Hedman, will be retiring, effective 1 February 2025. Martti joined DFE Pharma on 1 February 2022 and has been instrumental in shaping the future of our organization. Under his leadership, we made significant strides in defining our strategy and focus areas. His deep pharmaceutical expertise and commercial acumen have driven our growth and positioned DFE Pharma strongly for the future. As Martti prepares to embark on a new chapter, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for his dedication and leadership. His contributions will leave a lasting legacy.
