DYWIDAG participated at last week's 12th International Cable Supported Bridge Operators Conference in New York, USA. The presentation was prepared by our head of R&D, Jakob Laukner, and delivered by Roger Frenn, was titled “Sustainable integration of SHMS into existing and new bridge structures”. The presentation highlighted the connection between a bridge's lifespan management and its lifetime SHMS, including approaches on how to build and integrate #StructuralHealthMonitoring Systems into stay cable structures sustainably, including improved standardized guidelines and an inter-disciplinary approach, ensuring that quality and fit-for-purpose systems are installed, that benefit the structure, and all relevant stakeholders involved, therefore overcoming the risk of poorly executed and/or discrete solutions, that can frustrate and fail to deliver the originally expected and promised outcomes. ✅ If you would like a copy of our presentation, please email: jakob.laukner@dywidag.com 👉 More information about the topic can be found in the conference agenda - https://lnkd.in/g5kUNZJM #SaferStrongerSmarter

Delivering precision and reliability for the UK's rail network. 👇 This past summer, we were called in to tackle an important job at Piddington Overbridge 14, ensuring smooth and secure operations for the Neasden to Aynho Junction Line. Our task? To gather critical survey data that would help maintain the railway’s integrity—both now and in the future. A comprehensive topographical survey was needed, covering both the railway and highway infrastructure—essential for planning maintenance and upgrades. In essence, it’s like creating a precise, 3D map of a location so engineers and project managers can understand the landscape before making any changes or improvements. The survey covered over 50 meters on both sides of the main tracks on the bridge and boundary fence. Precise, timely data enabled our clients to plan future works confidently, preventing potential delays and unexpected complications. The Result? ✅Precise, integrated survey data to support confident planning. ✅Seamless collaboration with Network Rail and other contractors. ✅Timely project delivery while upholding safety standards. Every project we undertake aims to empower our clients with the data they need to minimize risks and maximize efficiency. With DYWIDAG, your success is built on a foundation of accuracy and reliability. #SaferStrongerSmarter #Infrastructure #Engineering #RailIndustry #Maintenance

Check out this time-lapse video from the #GordieHoweBridge project contecting Windsor, Ontario, Canada to Detroit, Michigan, U.S.👇 The Gordie Howe International Bridge will be the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America and the tenth longest in the world. Filmed by the project owner WDBA-APWD, the timelapse shows the completion of works on creating the bridge between April and July 2024 and features the moment when the two sides of the #GordieHoweBridge come together. Its impressive length, along with its importance in improving cross-border trade and connectivity, sets it apart as a major infrastructure project, and we’re proud to have played a role in this remarkable achievement. ➡️ DYWIDAG provided 216 Multistrand Stay Cables and 48 Tie-Down Cables, sized up to 127 strands with passive de-icing and other state-of-the-art technologies. Further involvement includes specialized technical assistance, post-tensioning material for the composite deck, construction force monitoring, and drainage systems. #SaferStrongerSmarter #BridgeEngineering #InternationalBridge #ConstructionIndustry https://lnkd.in/eeNeWhwd

At DYWIDAG, we're committed to delivering durable, high-performance solutions that stand the test of time—even in the most challenging environments. The Hallett Cove Boardwalk in Adelaide, South Australia, attracts around 30,000 visitors every year, who come to experience the beauty of its stunning 7.2 km coastal route. But maintaining such a heavily trafficked walkway, particularly one exposed to harsh coastal elements, is no easy task. When the City of Marion sought to enhance the boardwalk with the new Grey Gully Suspension Bridge, they turned to DYWIDAG for a solution that would ensure longevity, safety, and strength. 👉 Our solution? We used our DYWIDAG WR Threadbars (11.8m in length), galvanized for extra durability, ensuring the bridge can withstand the tough coastal conditions. The continuous thread design allows for flexible anchoring and coupling anywhere along the bar, providing superior strength and stability. In addition, our DYWIDAG 15.2mm 6-strand DCP anchors (up to 20m in length), locally manufactured, enabled efficient installation and safe transportation to the site. Thanks to these solutions, the new Grey Gully Suspension Bridge offers a stunning, safe passage for all visitors, while reinforcing our commitment to delivering reliable, long-lasting infrastructure. DYWIDAG Smart Tendon - Intelligent sensor technology for tension force determination and condition assessment of structures. Kay Löffler, one of our expert sales engineers, will be providing a technical presentation on this technology at the 6th Bridge Colloquium at TAE, Esslingen, Germany, 1 - 2 October 2024 DYWIDAG’s Smart Tendon comprises the direct integration of glass fibre sensors in the tendons, without interfering with the construction process, to provide data on the spatially resolved strain distribution in the post-tensioning system, but also in the component cross-section of the overall structure, over the entire service life of the structure. The influence of anchorage and friction loss over the tendon length can be determined directly during the stressing process and after completion of the stressing work. By taking measurements during the hardening phase of the grout, grouting errors can be determined and their position detected. With regular readings or integration into a monitoring concept, changes in the load-bearing behaviour can be detected at an early stage and repair or reinforcement measures can be initiated in good time. The first pilot applications are currently being realised. The system will be explained in more detail and initial results will be presented during the technical presentation. We look forward to discussing these exciting new developments with you at our stand and are always available to answer your questions about prestressing technology and structural reinforcement with a competent DYWIDAG team! Following a significant earthquake in New Taipei City, #Taiwan, our expert inspection and monitoring teams promptly inspected the New Moon Bridge and Sher-Liao Bridge. We used DYWIDAG's robotic technology (R140 MI magneto inspection device), combined with visual inspections at each anchorage point, supplemented by ultrasonic testing and lift-off tests, where feasible. 👉 Our approach not only enhances the accuracy and safety of structural integrity assessments, but also enables the precise identification of critical cable damage and potential anchorage weaknesses—key factors in guiding future maintenance and ensuring long-term infrastructure resilience. How We Supported Our Client: ➡️Comprehensive inspection of anchorage and cables for earthquake-induced damage. ➡️In-depth assessment of structural integrity and corrosion evaluation. ➡️Data-driven follow-up actions to address identified issues and reinforce infrastructure safety. 📢 Want to learn more about our robotic inspection services? Find the link in the comments below 👇 #SaferStrongerSmarter #CivilEngineering #StructuralHealthMonitoring #BridgeEngineering

[#ProjectSpotlight] DYWIDAG worked closely with its client to support them in maintaining the integrity of the historic 100m-long Nuttall Tunnel, constructed in the 1840s. The single bore, single track railway tunnel required major construction works above, and continuous, precise structural monitoring was essential to protect this valuable infrastructure. 💡 Our engineers implemented a tailored monitoring approach combining our technology and expert consultation: ➡️Wireless Tilt Sensors - Provided real-time data on tunnel movements. ➡️Manual Monitoring with Prisms - Used to take highly accurate manual measurements, providing additional data to support the automated sensors. ➡️Infrastructure Intelligence (II) Platform - Enabled 24/7 live data access for continuous monitoring. Projects like this are just one of the many ways we are helping to create safer, stronger, and smarter, structures. By merging heritage railway infrastructure monitoring with modern civil engineering practices, we are able to deliver bespoke solutions that address specific client needs.
