As part of Germany's start-up community, we support the vision of Not Optional, launched in 2019 to advocate for more accessible and fair employee stock option plans (ESOPs) for employees who contribute to company success. Our CEO, Christian Wiens, was recently featured in Tech.eu, highlighting a key issue: “Employees may face nearly 50% tax on paper gains when granted shares, even without selling. Not Optional is pushing for fairer rules, so startups can offer real ownership without punitive taxes”. At Getsafe, we build high-performing teams rooted in strong ownership, a day-one mindset, and customer empathy. From the start, we prioritized giving every full-time employee an ownership stake through our virtual share program. Recently, our Chief People Officer, Sarina Hergarten, collaborated with our VC board to refine the terms of our performance grants. To reward exceptional contributions, we added a significant performance bonus in VSOP, shortened the vesting period from four to two years, and removed the cliff for new performance grants at Getsafe 🌱. Recently, our Getsafe team came together in Heidelberg for our annual Strategy Week and celebrated the opening of our new HQ! With colleagues joining us from all over, it was a week packed with energy, team workshops, and an inspiring full day strategy session - Getsafe was on fire! 🔥 Our team also had the chance to dive into our new benefits, and our latest Getsafe merchandise. As a hybrid company, we spent the last few months redesigning our approach, making it more meaningful, whether it’s our daily interactions or strategic sessions, every moment reinforces our commitment to this purpose. Throughout our Strategy Week, we revisited our principles: Customer Empathy 🤝, Absolute Ownership 🔛, Day One Mindset 🌱, and Driver Team 🏎 and explored how they shape our growth and innovation.
