Revolutionizing cell cultivation for Cell and Gene therapy manufacturing ⬇ As the Cell and Gene therapy (CGT) market continuously grows, the demand for scalable solutions becomes more urgent. The complexity of manufacturing these treatments remains a major hurdle—especially in the labor-intensive cell cultivation stage. Manual processes slow down production, introduce variability, and challenge the scalability of life-saving treatments. That’s why we developed the CellScrew® - an innovative cultivation system designed to streamline the process, ensuring consistent results, improved efficiency, and scalable production. ➡ Want to know how our CellScrew® can enhance your manufacturing process? Starting to green your science ⬇ In January 2024, we proudly launched our transparent 96-well plate made from polylactic acid (PLA) with a 50% reduced carbon footprint compared to polystyrene-based plates. Today, our plates are available in three color variations to meet specific assay needs: transparent, black, and white. Developing these products took time, but providing a high-quality solution was always our priority. We knew that sustainability shouldn’t come at the expense of performance. A common question we receive about our Green Elephant 96-well plates is, "How do they perform?" Our answer is simple: sustainability and performance can – and should – go hand in hand. Ready to see the data yourself? ➡ Download our Product Characterization document from our website and explore the detailed test results, including data on light-based assays and chemical stability.

Lessons learned from Green Startups ⬇ At Technologie- und Innovationszentrum Gießen's recent event “Wirtschaftsfrühstück Nachhaltigkeit - Chancen und Potenziale nutzen,” our co-founder Joel delivered an inspiring talk on what businesses can learn from Green Startups. The event encourages regional companies to explore and adopt sustainable practices. Thanks to Dr. Marzieh Shafiee-Hajiabad for capturing the talk. ➡ “Green startups are demonstrating that innovation and sustainability can work seamlessly together. It's about stepping out of the bubble and embracing new ways of thinking. And it’s never too late to get started,” Joel emphasized during the talk. We’re proud to be shaping the future of biotech with our products made from polylactic acid (PLA) and our innovative approach to efficiently cultivating adherent cells. 🌱 Together, let's create a sustainable future.

Cultivating HEK-293 in a compact system ⬇ The CellScrew® is our innovative solution for the compact and efficient cultivation of adherent cells. To demonstrate its effectiveness, we cultivated HEK-293 cells in the system. The cells attached successfully to the surface and expanded consistently, benefiting from the controlled delivery of oxygen and nutrients. Remarkably, we achieved harvest efficiencies of around 90%, even with a reduced concentration of trypsin. In addition to its compact design, the CellScrew® offers an available surface from 850 cm² to 10,000 cm² that supports large-scale cell growth, optimizing space utilization without sacrificing cell yield. ➡ For more in-depth information, including data and technical insights, visit our website. ➡ We’ll be in Basel at the Festival of Biologics next week. Make sure to visit our booth and experience our products firsthand. #adherentcells #cellexpansion #cellscrew #application #biotechstartup

Inoculate. Expand. Harvest. Repeat ⬇ Scaling up the growth of adherent cells for pharmaceutical production is often anything but straightforward. The reality usually looks more like this: Inoculate. Fail. Inoculate. Expand. Fail. Inoculate. Expand. Harvest. Fail. Sensitive cells require a stable environment, balanced nutrients, optimal surface conditions, and low shear forces to mimic the body’s natural state and maintain cell health. Traditional systems struggle to consistently provide these conditions across different scales, forcing frequent system modifications and cultivation adjustments. The result? Increased costs. Wasted batches. Delayed time-to-market. With the CellScrew®, we aim to simplify the expansion of adherent cells by offering scalable culture surfaces with consistent cultivation conditions, making the scale-up process seamless. The intricate design of our system provides a large cultivation area within a compact footprint, reducing costs related to space, handling, and liquid requirements. Small changes for a big impact ⬇ Last Thursday was Lab Waste Day - a reminder of our responsibility to reduce the environmental impact of scientific research. While plastics remain a vital part of lab work due to strict safety and sterility standards, this day encourages scientists to challenge the status quo. Lab Waste Day serves as a prompt to reflect on the products we use, reconsider their necessity, and explore ways to reduce, reuse, recycle, and replace them. With an estimated 5.5 million tons of lab waste generated globally each year, it's crucial to embrace both small and large changes to protect the planet and improve health outcomes for all. But taking measurements and look for small changes you can implement should be an omnipresent thing. If you like, share your tips for reducing lab waste and sustainable alternatives below. #labwasteday #sustainability #innovation #biotech
