Our partner EWE AG sets milestones for the hydrogen economy in Germany! The Clean Hydrogen Coastline project has received the green light after years of preparation and will be supported with €500 million in funding. What does this mean? 🏭 Construction of one of Europe's largest hydrogen production plants in Emden 🌱 Production of 26,000 tons of green hydrogen per year, enough to save 800,000 tons of CO2 🤝 Strengthening regional and national value creation through collaboration with Siemens Energy ⚡ Integration of hydrogen production, storage, and transportation for a stable supply 🇩🇪 Important contribution to the energy transition and the development of a sustainable hydrogen economy in Germany EWE's journey is just beginning. With the Emden plant slated to start operations in 2027, this is only the first step in a larger plan. EWE is committed to expanding the hydrogen infrastructure throughout northwestern Germany, developing a network that will ensure a reliable supply of green hydrogen. In addition, the company is actively pursuing other innovative projects that will further advance hydrogen technology and solidify its position as a leader in the green energy transition. We are proud of EWE's achievements and look forward to shaping the future of energy supply together! 💚🚀 Plug and Play Tech Center #PNPTC #Hydrogen #EnergyTransition #CleanHydrogenCoastline
#Versorgungssicherheit #Transformation #Energiewende

That is why Hamburg is driving the development of a competitive green hydrogen economy forward. Together with strong partners from industry, science, and politics such as Luxcara, Hamburger Energiewerke GmbH, Gasnetz Hamburg GmbH, HHLA Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG, Hamburg Port Authority (HPA), Air Products, Airbus, ZAL Center of Applied Aeronautical Research, ArcelorMittal, Linde, Mabanaft, Erneuerbare Energien Hamburg (EEHH), and hySOLUTIONS GmbH, Hamburg is building a hydrogen network of short distances. The aim is to decarbonise the port, industry, logistics, and aviation sectors as well as to modernise local infrastructure. A multitude of projects, initiatives, startups, and collaborations with stakeholders from the entire value chain are currently underway, with additional ones in the planning stage. To address the shortage of green hydrogen, efforts at the moment are focused on increasing production and import capacities. The Port of Hamburg serves as a key player and the central hub. With its efficient logistics infrastructure and status as Northern Europe's largest industrial area, it offers prime facilities for importing, storing, and distributing hydrogen. Enhanced by digitalisation, the port connects transnational waterways, roads, railways, and energy grids, making it an optimal location within the European network.
