H2Global in the Gulf 🌍 Oman 🇴🇲 is emerging as a frontrunner for clean hydrogen production on the Arabian Peninsula, with ambitious plans to produce 1.25 million tonnes of clean hydrogen by 2030. 🚀 Markus Exenberger and Pauline Raabe had the privilege of meeting HE the Minister of Energy and Minerals, Salim Al Aufi, to explore how the H2Global mechanism can bring added value to Oman’s growing clean hydrogen economy. 📈 “Our discussions with representatives from Hydrom, OQ Alternative Energy, and the Salalah2 project highlighted Oman’s commitment to building a market for clean hydrogen and its derivatives,” said Markus Exenberger, Executive Director of the H2Global Foundation. Invited by H2-diplo - Decarbonization Diplomacy, the H2Global team presented insights on the mechanism and lessons from our first pilot auction to key stakeholders in Oman's energy ecosystem. 🌍🔋 Happy Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day! On this day, we celebrate the potential of hydrogen as a clean energy source and its vital role in reducing emissions, especially in hard-to-abate sectors. Hydrogen has an atomic weight of approximately 1.008. It's the lightest and most abundant element in the universe, making it a key player in the transition to a sustainable energy future. H2Global has made substantial progress since last Hydrogen Day. Notable achievements include: 🏆 H2Global’s first pilot auction was successfully completed, marking a pivotal step in demonstrating the viability and impact of the H2Global mechanism. 💰 EUR 4.83 billion of additional funds were committed or earmarked to H2Global tenders to be run by @Hintco showcasing governments’ commitment to hydrogen and to fostering a globally traded market, including: 🇦🇺 pledged AUD 330 million for a joint H2Global tender with Germany  🇨🇦 earmarked CAD 300 million for a joint H2Global tender with Germany  🇩🇪 committed EUR 3.53 billion for a new H2Global tender and earmarked an additional EUR 600 million for new tenders. 🇳🇱 committed EUR 300 million for a joint H2Global tender with Germany 🌍 H2Global deepened its dialogue with various key players in Austria, Italy, Japan, Oman, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, UAE, USA. 🤝 H2Global enhanced its engagement with leading organizations, including the WB (#H4D Initiative), the IDB, IRENA, IEA, IEEJ, CGEP, OECD, and OIES. 🌱 H2Global Foundation’s corporate donor community grew to 72 members, demonstrating increased interest in H2Global’s work towards supporting the creation of markets for clean hydrogen 🌟 The H2Global Foundation was nominated for the #EartshotPrize and received a grant of USD 1 million from the Bezos Earth Fund, enabling H2Global to increase visibility and further its work as a green market maker. Partnerships with additional climate philanthropies are currently being developed.   Together, these milestones underscore H2Global’s collective journey toward a sustainable future powered by clean hydrogen. 🌍 H2Global was on-site at #ClimateWeekNYC last week, and we left feeling inspired and energized by the conversations we had!   Key takeaways for H2Global include: It’s clear across all stakeholders that there is an urgent need to deliver essential solutions as time is running out ⏳. In short, it is past time to act 🚀.   We must look at and solve what’s holding up action and move faster towards solutions.
