👥 Conference Update 👥 Clean Space Days by ESA: Spotlight on ADEO from HPS! 📅 In October 2024, the ESA’s Clean Space Team once again hosted the Clean Space Days, a four-day event dedicated to advancements in eco-design, zero debris, and in-orbit maintenance. The key topics discussed included: - 🌱 Life cycle assessment for space activities - 🛰️ Deorbit technologies - 🌌 Debris disposal and disturbance-free skies for astronomy - 🔄 Circular economy for space travel - 🚀 IOS missions 🌟 HPS shines with ADEO! 🌟 During the event, while many presentations focused on concepts still in development, HPS manager Frank Hoffmann showcased the ADEO product family — already making waves in the European and now North American markets! 🌍 📡 What is ADEO? ADEO is a deorbit sail technology designed for the automatic self-disposal of satellites at the end of their mission, ensuring a clean and debris-free space environment. 🌌 This innovative solution is available in various sizes to suit every spacecraft class: - 🛰️ Pico: 1-20 kg - 📦 Cube: 5-50 kg - 🔬 Nano: 20-250 kg - 🚀 Medium: 100-700 kg - 🛰️ Large: 500-1500 kg 🏭 Production and Delivery: To meet the growing demand for ADEO systems, especially with new regulations requiring suitable disposal systems for satellite launches from October 2024, HPS handles all orders directly from series production to minimize delivery times. 🔜 Planning ahead: With the requirement for disposal systems like ADEO becoming mandatory for most satellite launches, early ordering is highly recommended to avoid potential delays. 👏 The Clean Space Days are over, but as we like to say, “After the event is before the event.” The future of sustainable space exploration continues to look brighter, thanks to European innovation!

🛰 Antenna Update 🛰 HERA on its way: Europe writing the next chapter of space history with HPS’s very own antenna! 📅 On Monday, October 7, 2024, the mission that will put Europe at the forefront of space exploration was launched! The HERA satellite took off on board a SpaceX Falcon 9 from Cape Canaveral, Florida. After around three years of travel, the satellite will begin documenting the effects of the American DART mission to deflect the asteroid Dimorphos in 2027. ✨ And today we got proof, that the antenna from HPS is working! 📡 At the heart of the mission is the HPS-made X-band antenna system from Munich: The antenna with a diameter of 1.2 meters, made from highly stable carbon fibers—lightweight, robust, and with high eigenfrequency. This high-gain antenna is a product of HPS’s expertise from major projects like Euclid (ESA) and Heinrich-Hertz (DLR). 🔍 The challenge: This antenna, designed and manufactured by HPS, is the crucial link between the satellite and Earth, transmitting signals over a distance of up to 400 million km! It amplifies the signal more than 4000 times to send it accurately back to Earth. 🛡️ The antenna is equipped with a Kapton germanium sunshield to withstand the extreme conditions of space, while maintaining reliable radio communications. 🗣️ Ernst K. Pfeiffer, CEO of HPS, said: "As engineers, we're usually as cool as Mr. Spock when dealing with technical challenges, but when Europe writes space history with our very own antenna, we can't help but feel proud and emotional." 🎤 Paolo Proietti Zolla, CTO of HPS, was live at the scene: "The launch was thrilling! We were worried about the weather, with heavy rain and strong winds, but just before liftoff, the skies cleared. The Falcon 9 took off majestically, disappearing into the clouds—a moment of pure pride and the feeling of being part of an extraordinary mission." 👏 We are proud to be part of this European success story with our very own antenna and look forward to the exciting developments of the HERA mission! 🛰 Space Update 🛰️ HPS CEO: "Congratulations to Fraunhofer for the successful launch of ERNST and wishing My Namesake a Safe Journey Home" Not every satellite grabs attention for its mission alone—sometimes the return home is just as important! 🌍 💡 Meet ERNST: A compact 18-kilo satellite developed by Fraunhofer Institute Freiburg launched by SpaceX's Falcon 9, designed for a crucial mission: detecting civilian and military rocket launches via infrared from space. 🚀 🔬 Why It Matters: ERNST is a milestone in European research, especially in a field where the U.S. Space Forces have long set the standard. This mission puts Germany on the map for space-based rocket detection technology. 🌱 Sustainable Space: The renowned Fraunhofer Institute in Freiburg is relying on tried and tested principles to avoid space debris: a braking system with a deployable sail for accelerated return at the end of the approximately three-year mission is also on board. HPS collaborated with Fraunhofer on the sail almost ten years ago as part of a master's thesis and provided support. 💪 HPS Leads the Way: The ADEO braking sails, now in 5 versions, are becoming the gold standard for LEO satellites. With new FCC regulations requiring deorbit tech, no satellite will fly without this gear from late 2024 onwards. 🔝 A Market Leader: ADEO is not only trusted worldwide but also tops NASA's technology report on deorbit systems. 🌠 CEO Ernst K. Pfeiffer’s Thoughts: "While the research mission of ERNST is groundbreaking, I’m particularly excited for its safe return home. Wishing my namesake a smooth journey back!" ➡ More here: https://lnkd.in/dnXgZ_HQ ⬅ Picture by: © Fraunhofer EMI #SpaceInnovation #SatelliteTechnology #DeorbitTech #HPS #ADEO #SustainableSpace #Fraunhofer #SpaceX
