Diese Fragen standen im Mittelpunkt der Handelsblatt-Konferenz "Sicherheit & Verteidigung", wo unser CEO Marco Fuchs gestern unter der Moderation von Larissa Holzki mit Regina Peldszus, Jürgen Kerner und Matthias Spott über die Zukunft der europäischen Raumfahrtindustrie sprach. Die Kernpunkte der Diskussion: 🔹 Europas souveräner Zugang zum All – Europa muss in wiederverwendbare Raketen, Microlauncher und eigene Satellitenkonstellationen (u.a. IRIS²) investieren. 🔹 Entwicklung von Schlüsseltechnologien – KI-gestützte Satelliten, In-Orbit-Manufacturing und sichere Kommunikation sind essenziell für die Unabhängigkeit. 🔹 Sicherstellung der politischen Unterstützung – Weniger Bürokratie, mehr gezielte Förderung und eine europäische Raumfahrtstrategie sichern langfristige Wettbewerbsfähigkeit. Fakt ist: Ohne eigene Trägerraketen, Satellitenkonstellationen und eine gezielte Förderung von Innovationen bleibt Europa abhängig. And signed! 🎉 ESA’s CO2 monitoring mission #CO2M gets a third satellite! As the saying goes: The best things come in threes. 🛰️ 🛰️🛰️ The signing event took place today at the 17th European Space Conference in Brussels. Thales Alenia Space Deputy CEO and SVP Observation, Exploration and Navigation Giampiero Di Paolo, OHB System AG CEO Chiara Pedersoli, European Space Agency - ESA Director for Earth Observation Programmes Simonetta Cheli and European Commission Director for Satellite Navigation and Earth Observation Christoph Kautz signed the contract for the full roll-out of the CO2M mission. This means that OHB will provide a third #satellite for Europe’s cutting-edge #EO mission to monitor greenhouse gases. 🌍

📢 Neues Projekt für mehr Präzision im landwirtschaftlichen Monitoring Für gute landwirtschaftliche Erträge müssen Flächen gewässert, gedüngt und gespritzt werden. Um Wasserverschwendung zu vermeiden und den Eintrag von Dünger und Spritzmitteln in die Umwelt zu reduzieren, sollten Felder aber nur dann und an den Stellen behandelt werden, wenn und an denen es wirklich notwendig ist. Die Copernicus-Missionen #CHIME und #LSTM könnten zukünftig die Daten liefern, die genau das ermöglichen. 🛰️ Um die Anwender auf die neuen #Satelliten vorzubereiten, hat die European Space Agency - ESA das Projekt „Advanced Agricultural Monitoring with Copernicus Expansion Missions“, kurz: AgriCEM, ins Leben gerufen. Das Projekt wird von einem Konsortium aus wissenschaftlichen Instituten und Industrieunternehmen unter Führung der OHB System AG durchgeführt und hat das Ziel, den Mehrwert der zukünftigen Satelliteninstrumente gegenüber den aktuell verfügbaren zu demonstrieren. Als erster Anwendungsfall dient dabei das verbesserte Monitoring von Zuckerrüben. Besuch des britischen Botschafters in Deutschland Andrew Mitchell an unserem Standort in Oberpfaffenhofen. 🇬🇧 Es war uns eine Ehre, Andrew Mitchell in Oberpfaffenhofen zu empfangen. Während seines Besuchs tauschte er sich mit OHB-Technikvorstand Joseph Duncan und Dr. Timo Stuffler, Direktor Geschäftsentwicklung, über unsere Programme, Missionen und Zukunftspläne aus – und erhielt spannende Einblicke in die Entwicklung modernster Satelliten. Im Reinraum gab es die Flughardware für die ESA-Mission #PLATO zu sehen. Diese Mission soll Planeten außerhalb unseres Sonnensystems erforschen und es wird erwartet, dass sie bahnbrechende Einblicke in die Entstehung von Planetensystemen und die Bedingungen für Leben liefern wird. Großbritannien ist ein wichtiger Partner der deutschen Raumfahrtindustrie im ESA-Kontext. Zukünftig wollen wir die Kooperation weiter ausbauen – besonders in sicherheitsrelevanten Projekten. Auf eine erfolgreiche Partnerschaft und viele innovative Missionen! 🚀

On Tuesday January 14 the #GARAI-A satellite was successfully launched on the SpaceX Transporter-12 mission, from the Vandenberg launch site in California, US, and is currently undergoing commissioning after a successful LEOP phase.    GARAI-A is the first of a pair of satellites (GARAI-A & B) from SATLANTIS which combine their iSIM-170 and iSIM-90 camera's on OHB Sweden's #InnoSat microsatellite platform. We are proud to support our customer in this mission.    For this mission we have significantly upgraded our platform to match the mission's needs such as advanced agility and #AOCS modes optimized for a large variety of specialized tracking modes, a high speed X-band downlink, lightweight honeycomb structure and high performance star trackers. Beyond thrilled to be able to share the release of the Zero Debris Technical Booklet! This booklet was developed within the Zero Debris community to outline key technologies and strategies to achieving #zerodebris goals by 2030. I am proud to have been co-chair and to support developments on Chapter 5: Preventing Casualties on Ground, and be involved actively and collaboratively in many sessions to build and finalize the booklet. Lots of hard work went into this booklet by the community throughout the year. Congrats constellr! What an awesome launch 🚀 of #SkyBee1 and also a great moment of joy for the team HiVE (High-precision Versatile Ecosphere) at our Oberpfaffenhofen site! “We have integrated several off-the-shelf components into a compact infrared instrument, which has performed excellently in all tests. Now, the real proof will come from space”, said OHB HiVE project manager Podehl Martin after the successful launch which marks a new era of global thermal monitoring with the satellite continuously capturing high-resolution thermal images. This will not only provide deeper insights into our climate but also support smarter decisions to tackle climate change, sustainable resource use, and global food security 🌍 🌱 The #satellite features an innovative 3D-printed optical bench, and its payload boasts a completely new design – “A groundbreaking development created in close collaboration with our partners”, says #constellr. “It was a great team effort with a lot of personal commitment that made this success possible. It took less than 2 years from the kick-off in May 2022 up to the delivery in April 2024. That is a very short period of time for the procurement and the assembly, integration and test of a complete payload, with two high-precision aligned cameras, a very complex thermal system and a very robust but lightweighted mechanical structure”, said Paul Philipp Domni, HiVE sub-project manager at #OHB.
