We are thrilled our donation of laparoscopic equipment is making a significant impact to improve #healthcare in Kumasi, #Ghana. 🇬🇭 Gye Nyame Mobile Clinics, which provides pediatric surgery, mental and public health support in Ghana’s remote rural areas by using mobile clinics and multi-disciplinary medical teams, held a four-day ‘Minimal Access Surgery Course’ at the HopeXchange hospital in early June. The course was attended by 19 participants, including general surgeons, pediatric surgeons, and gynecologists. “The spectrum of quality in hospital care, diagnostic options, and surgical technology is extremely broad in sub-Saharan Africa, which includes Ghana,” said Dr. Britta Budde-Schwartzman, Gye Nyame Mobile Clinics Director. “Through regular laparoscopic training, this technique can be used as a hook for continuous technical improvements in the operating rooms and anesthesia units. The training also serves as a prerequisite for participation in such an operation and brings with it safety and new standards.” Our donation included four complete laparoscopic towers with screens, insufflation devices, cables, cameras, trocars, and instruments for both adults and children. KARL STORZ ENDOSCOPY attended the WCET 2024 held in Seoul. At this conference, we showcased a range of products, including single use flexible scope, the Flex Xᶜ¹ , Flexible URS Scope (Flex Xᶜ, Flex X²ˢ ), Single use Flexible Cystoscope, MIP. Under the slogan "Your Patient. Your Choice." we had the opportunity to introduce our products to numerous global attendees and share valuable feedback. Additionally, a special lecture was given by Dr. Mehmet Ilker Gokce (Ankara University School of Medicine), who presented on Flexible URS and MultiLASE for an hour. The session was chaired by Professor Hyungjoon Kim (Bundang Seoul National University Hospital), who facilitated a lively Q&A and discussion. We are also proud to announce that Dr. James Lingeman received the KARL STORZ Lifetime Achievement Award (Golden Scope) at WCET 2024. Dr. Stephen Divers recently teamed up with Dr. Scott Stahl, a private practitioner from Fairfax, Virginia, to lead an exotic animal endoscopy course at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok! The course, organized by Dr. Chalika Wangdee, proved immensely popular, selling out within 24 hours. Twenty-four vets from Thailand, China, Singapore, Malaysia, and Taiwan received hands-on training in diagnostic endoscopy and endosurgery for reptiles, birds, small mammals, and fish. Our Veterinary team was proud to attend the 10th World Congress of Veterinary Dermatology in Boston, Massachusetts, USA from July 25th to 29th. It was an amazing few days filled with fantastic talks. We also had the pleasure of supporting the otoscopy dry lab course led by Takafumi Osumi, Ekaterina Mendoza-Kuznetsova, Lucia Lucia Panakova and Klaus Earl Loft. This fantastic course provided delegates with hands-on experience, at the Angell Animal Medical Center showcasing the advantages of using video otoscopy.
