The time to invest in Europe's sovereignty in AI and HPC hardware is now! 🇪🇺 We are very proud that Codasip, the European RISC-V leader, has been selected to provide a general purpose, high-end processor as part of the large-scale European supercomputing project Digital Autonomy with RISC-V in Europe (DARE). The DARE SGA1 will play a pivotal role in shaping a fully European HPC and AI stack—delivering innovation, efficiency, and security for research and industry alike. The European Union has committed 240 million Euros in funding for the first 3-year program phase. Codasip will design a RISC-V-based General-Purpose Processor (GPP) that can be configured and customized for various HPC-class applications. The company is uniquely well-suited to deliver the GPP for the project, combining a fully Europe-based development team and an innovative Custom Compute approach. ZeroPoint Technologies has just announced their new breakthrough technology: AI-MX 🔥 Having proven that compression works across the memory stack and with all data types, the ZeroPoint team started working on a pressing and timely challenge - how can LLM workloads, which are by their very nature already highly optimized, be compressed and thereby use memory more efficiently? 💡 And today they have great news to share: their new IP product AI-MX can provide significant benefits in foundational model workloads: 50% increase to addressable memory bandwidth and capacity, as well as similar increases to performance as measured by tokens per second. In practice, this translates to being able to fit 50% larger LLMs in the same memory or running your AI accelerator with 50% more high-bandwidth memory (HBM) stacks. In addition to the very expensive and scarce HBM, AI-MX supports other memory types like GDDR or LPDDR. ⚛️ Funding news! ⚛️ We are proud to announce that TNO has made an investment through its private holding in our portfolio company Equal1. The investment comes just months after the two announced a strategic partnership to innovate the next generation of silicon-based quantum devices – specifically, the Quantum System-on-Chip (QSoC) processors. In order to utilise TNO’s technology and expertise in nanofabrication, infrastructure and advanced materials, Equal1 will be relocating part of its R&D activities to the House of Quantum, a national campus for quantum start-ups in the Netherlands. “TNO’s investment in Equal1 accelerates the realisation of our vision to build rack-mounted quantum computers capable of scaling to millions of high-performance qubits on a single quantum chip,” said Jason Lynch, the CEO of Equal1.
