A warm invitation to the workshop »Biomimetics, Bioinspired, Biorobotics: Discourses on Nature in the 21st century« on 21 and 22 November 2024 at the premises of the Cluster of Excellence »Matters of Activity« in Berlin-Mitte. The workshop aims to explore the new discourses, metaphors, and conceptual approaches in which the research on biomimetics as well as on bioinspired and biorobotics materials is embedded. By bringing together experts in #biomimetics, #bioinspired, and #biorobotics disciplines, we seek to understand how formative these discourses and metaphors are. We aim to explore the ways in which they reflect older traditions, identify the actions that support the use of such concepts, and examine how they contribute to a new conceptual and philosophical landscape in the 21st century. With contributions by Peter Fratzl, Catrin Misselhorn, Bernadette Bensaude-Vincent, Sabine Marienberg, Emanuele Clarizio, Bernd Bösel, Alessio Gerola, Carsten Reinhardt, and Ines Schröder. For the detailed schedule and abstracts see: https://lnkd.in/dQ64Be9m The event is organized by Cluster members Michael Friedman (Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn / Tel Aviv University) and Marco Tamborini (Technische Universität Darmstadt) Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin Max-Planck-Institut für Kolloid- und Grenzflächenforschung
