Hold onto your hats! MTU just booked 800 million USD in orders at Farnborough International Airshow 2024! • Pratt & Whitney’s GTF engine family, in particular engines powering the A320neo, and the GE9X for the Boeing 777X proved particularly popular. • Qatar Airways opted for 20 Boeing 777-9, powered exclusively by the GE9X. Japan Airlines, International Airlines Group (IAG) and EVA Airways Corp. selected the GEnx for their 20 newly ordered Boeing 787 Dreamliner. • The Netherlands and Austria jointly ordered nine C-390 military transporters from Embraer – they will be powered by the V2500, MTU holds a 16 percent stake. “The high order value demonstrates once again that aviation is a growing market and MTU participates in the right, future-oriented engine programs,” says Lars Wagner, CEO of MTU Aero Engines AG. “We are well represented in both the narrowbody and widebody segments.” #superproud #WeAreEngineExperts #FIA2024

On display: The Airbus A220 from JetBlue at Farnborough International Airshow 2024. Powered by the GTF, with the PW1500G application. The Pratt & Whitney GTF™ engine family powers next-generation commercial aircraft. The new engines offer double-digit percentage reductions in fuel consumption, pollution, noise emissions, and operating costs. The GTF engine family can be found in a variety of aircraft types: Airbus offers the GTF engine family for its A320neo and A220, while Embraer has made it the only option for its second-generation E-Jets. MTU has a 18 percent share in the GTF engine, depending on the application. In addition to being responsible for the high-speed low-pressure turbine and the first four stages of the high-pressure compressor, MTU also manufactures brush seals and nickel blisks for high-pressure compressor components that fall outside its design responsibility. #FIA2024 #WeAreEngineExperts #Aerospace #Airshow #ApexofAviation

On display: The Embraer C-390 Millennium at Farnborough International Airshow 2024. Powered by the V2500. The IAE V2500 is a two-shaft turbofan engine specially designed for narrowbody aircraft. It is used to power a number of aircraft, including the Airbus A319, A320, and A321. A major advancement on this engine, the IAE V2500Select-One™, was introduced in September 2008. Compared to the V2500-A5, this version offers a 1 percent drop in fuel consumption and achieves a 20 percent increase in on-wing operating time. The V2500-E5 is the engine version for the Embraer C-390 transport aircraft, as seen on the photos. MTU has a 16 percent share in the IAE V2500 and is responsible for the entire low-pressure turbine as well as for numerous accessories. The development and manufacture of the IAE V2500 is in collaboration with Pratt & Whitney and the Japanese Aero Engines Corporation. To market the engines, a joint venture—International Aero Engines AG (IAE)—was founded in 1983. To date, this engine fleet has completed more than 280 million flight hours. Repairs to the V2500-A5 and V2500-E5 models is handled by MTU Maintenance, which offers the full range of maintenance and overhaul services. This also includes extensive repair capabilities. #FIA2024 #WeAreEngineExperts #Aerospace #Airshow #ApexofAviationtwin
