Our Power Systems team have been selected to support Turkey’s Göktepe Wind Power Plant through the integration of our large-scale battery energy storage system. Our mtu QG EnergyPack, with a capacity of 132 MWh, will ensure that renewable electricity from the wind farm can be fed into the grid without interruption. Polat Enerji, one of Turkey's leading investors in the renewable energy sector, selected our mtu solution to “play an important role in the process of achieving Turkey’s energy independence and environmental sustainability goals”. Today we welcomed the Secretary of State for Defence, Rt Hon John Healey MP, to our Nuclear Skills Academy to mark the signing of the landmark Unity contract with the UK Ministry of Defence. The Unity contract, worth circa £9 billion and spanning over eight years, brings together research and technology, design, manufacture and in-service support of the nuclear reactors that power the Royal Navy’s fleet of submarines. It’s great news that all of the certification testing of our new Trent 1000 Durability Enhancement package has now been successfully completed on the Boeing 787 #Dreamliner used for flight tests.
