🔍 𝐐𝐮𝐨 𝐯𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐬, 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐲: 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐝?   That was the theme of our recent investor workshop, a day filled with insightful presentations and engaging discussions about the evolution of #PrivateEquity as an asset class, its current challenges and an outlook amidst shifting economies, technological developments and geopolitical changes.   🔹 Prof. Dr. Pero Mićić from Steinbeis University Berlin provided valuable insights into how disruptive trends and technologies are reshaping businesses and society. 🔹 Elli Köstinger, Board Member at Ryanair and former Austrian Federal Minister, discussed the expected impact of upcoming global events, such as the U.S. elections, on the #European market. 🔹 And our fund partner, Gijs Botman from Mentha, walked us through their value creation approach and the role technological transformation plays in driving growth.   Our own #TeamMPEP concluded the day by presenting a broader perspective on the #PrivateEquity industry, highlighting the evolving trends and how they are influencing the sector at large.   A huge thank you to our speakers and all participants for these insights! 🙏 It was a pleasure to wrap up the day with all of you at the Munich #Oktoberfest 😊🥨   #CapitalWithCharacter

📰 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐲𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬   In an environment of intense competition to find, win over and increase the value of the most attractive companies during the holding period, the “Value Add” of a fund manager has become an increasing critical success factor. Today, more than ever, #PrivateEquity managers need to demonstrate to business owners why they are the right partner for their next growth phase and what specific value they bring to the table.   In the latest Bundesverband Alternative Investments e.V. (BAI) newsletter, Christopher Bär and Hans-Christian Moritz delve into which value creation strategies are increasingly being adopted by the most successful managers in the current market environment. Four trends stand out:   🔍 Specialization in select (sub-)sectors 🛠️ Enhanced use of operational resources 🤝 Stronger focus on M&A 🌟 Emphasis on “Right to Win” acquisitions   Overall, the most successful managers tend to excel at least one or more of these value creation levers. They do not rest on their laurels, but constantly seek ways to further develop their organizations to remain competitive.   A notable example from our fund of funds portfolios is Main Capital Partners, a highly successful pan-European buyout manager with a specialization in software companies. In this guest article, we also feature an interview with one of their Managing Partners, Sven van Berge Henegouwen. Therein, he provides practical insights into how Main Capital supports its portfolio companies, the value of sector expertise and why "Buy & Build" should ideally feel like organic growth for portfolio companies.   Many thanks to Sven and Main Capital for your perspective! 🙏 You can find the full contribution below, as well as in the August edition of the #BAI Newsletter (link in the comments). ⬇️   #CapitalWithCharacter

📰 The role of fund of funds in today’s markets   Ahead of 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫 in November, the conference team is putting the spotlight on #PrivateMarkets professionals and their views on key developments in the industry. Among the voices featured this year is also Christopher Bär. In the interview, he discusses a. o. the growing relevance of fund of funds to access specific segments such as the lower #midmarket. In short:   📊 Amid uncertainty and continued volatility in global markets, LPs appear to be further appreciating the structural advantages of the lower #midmarket.   🚀 That being said, the lower mid-market is also more difficult to navigate than the large-cap segment and getting access to the best performing managers, which are typically highly oversubscribed, is becoming increasingly challenging.    🤝 Focused Fund of funds specialists such as MPEP can provide an attractive solution to take advantage, get exposure and capitalize on the structural advantages of this segment.   Read the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/dWnX6rCh   Want to explore this topic further? In challenging markets, only the most resilient strategies shine through ✨ When it comes to #PrivateEquity, it is the lower end of the market that consistently attracts attention. According to Rede Partners LLP’ latest Liquidity Index, published in July, Lower #MidMarket Buyouts have again secured their position as the top choice for investors. 🥇 The Lower #MidMarket continues to be the most sought-after private market segment. 57% of all LPs surveyed plan to increase their allocation over the next twelve months, which is well ahead of other strategies such as Large Buyouts (8%), Private Credit (23%), Growth Equity (22%), and Secondaries (19%). ⚓ Rede Partners attributes this robust momentum to the inherent strengths of the Lower #MidMarket. The authors view this segment as traditionally well-positioned to enable portfolio diversification and as a compelling opportunity for GPs to drive value in a high-interest-rate environment, while also being less reliant on leverage. 🌎 Regionally, LPs continue to gravitate towards established markets. Despite the looming uncertainty of the upcoming US election, #NorthAmerican-focused funds remain in high demand. Interest in #European funds is also growing. In contrast, Asia-focused funds lag, as geopolitical tensions and market challenges continue to temper investor enthusiasm. Link to the study in the comments ⬇️ #CapitalWithCharacter
