We don't often find ourselves in front of the camera, but in this case it was very important for us to talk about key issues such as navigating complex regulations like 𝗘𝗨𝗗𝗥 and increasing transparency along the coffee value chain.   Many thanks to our partner osapiens for supporting us on our journey of transformation and to all participants behind and in front of the camera, especially the teams from NKG Kala Hamburg GmbH and the Hamburg Quality Department of InterAmerican Coffee - Europe & Bernhard Rothfos GmbH for giving us these great insights! 💡 #NeumannKaffeeGruppe #NKG #greencoffee #EUDR #partnerships

Neumann Kaffee Gruppe (NKG) shares their journey of transformation: overcoming diverse ERP systems, navigating complex regulations like 𝗘𝗨𝗗𝗥, and enhancing transparency along the coffee value chain. 📊 Three key challenges: • 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗘𝗥𝗣 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀: Managing data across 60 entities made unified reporting complex. • 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: Regulations such as CSRD, CSDDD, and EUDR demanded detailed traceability and consolidated insights. • 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆: Sourcing from small producers required scalable tools to verify and share origin data for regulatory and customer needs. 💡 To address these challenges, NKG partnered with 𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘀 and implemented the 𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗛𝗨𝗕, a comprehensive ESG compliance and traceability solution. This collaboration is proof that innovation can drive meaningful change and empower growth in the coffee industry. 𝗟𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘁 #𝟭 Sustainability is said to be based on the premise of farmers' livelihoods. But how does the coffee industry tackle the balance between environment and livelihoods? Our Group thrives on many different perspectives from all our locations worldwide. We want to make these points of view visible – starting with Becamo, one of the largest and most reliable coffee exporters in Honduras. As a coffee and people passionate, the coffee exporter truly believes in a holistic approach, recognizing the vital role of every member within the green coffee value chain. Marcela Zelaya, Marketing and Communications, spoke to José Manuel Calero Moraga, Head of Sustainable Business Unit Why is it so important for the coffee industry to take care of the livelihoods of smallholder farmers and how do you try to enhance the situation (for example initiatives or projects)? Although 96 % of producers in Honduras operate on less than 7 hectares, they are responsible for an impressive 74 % of the nation’s coffee volume. The significance of caring for small producers lies in their vulnerability to various industry challenges, such as climate change, labor shortages due to migration, lack of access to financing, technical assistance and technology. To ensure well-being of smallholders, we actively support initiatives focused on providing access to clean water, distributing school kits, establishing daycare centers, and offering food baskets. How do you deal with climate change and thus environmental sustainability?🌏 🌱 We tackle climate change proactively with our dedicated Unit for Sustainable Services to Producers (USSP). Consisting of a team of 35 field agronomists, we work closely with 4,000 families, addressing a wide array of environmental concerns. Our efforts encompass various aspects including waste management, integrated pest and disease management, biofertilizer production, soil regeneration, species diversity preservation, and safe agrochemical practices.  Our vision for sustainability extends further, as we are in the process of hiring additional agronomists, reaching a total of 53 in the field, to support 14,000 producers nationwide. What are special engagements at Becamo that you would love to share with the audience? The integration of women and youth in our sustainability programs is crucial. That's why we've developed coffee brands specifically highlighting women and youth, aiming to inspire them to remain active in the sector. Moreover, we are committed to child protection and fair labor practices. Our holistic approach to sustainability emphasizes our dedication to preserving communities and empowering our producers for the future of the Honduran coffee industry. By prioritizing climate resilience, we aim to create a more vibrant and sustainable coffee landscape for generations to come. _____ Accompany Becamo's coffee journey and stay updated by following their LinkedIn account!

  • 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵: 𝗡𝗞𝗚 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗣𝗿𝗼 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲   Sustainability in coffee production takes a significant step forward with the European launch of our and GrainPro’s recycling program. After a successful start in the U.S., this initiative now offers coffee roasters in Europe an easy and effective way to recycle used GrainPro Hermetic Bags and other liners, contributing to a more sustainable coffee supply chain. Unlike other recycling methods, such as the yellow bag or yellow bin system in Germany, this method recycles not only parts of the waste but the entire product.    Through NKG Kala Hamburg GmbH, roasters can deliver their used liners directly to the warehouse or ship them for proper recycling. This innovative process ensures that 100% of the materials are recycled, unlike conventional methods that handle only partial waste. The U.S. program has already diverted more than 11 tons of used coffee liners from landfills, and the European initiative aims to replicate this success.   "Our collaboration with GrainPro reinforces NKG's mission to build a sustainable future for coffee. By providing roasters with an accessible recycling option, we are making tangible progress in reducing waste and carbon emissions within our industry," says Dr. Julius Wenzig, Environment and Climate Change Manager at Neumann Gruppe.   With strong support from NKG’s European import and trading companies, this program reflects NKG’s unwavering commitment to a more sustainable coffee ecosystem.   Founded in 1956, NKG Kala Hamburg is a leading service provider specializing in the storage, processing, and delivery of green coffee beans. Renowned for its state-of-the-art operations, NKG Kala ensures quality and reliability throughout the coffee supply chain, driving innovation and sustainability in every step.   Interested in joining us? • 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲: 𝗡𝗞𝗚 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗜𝗗𝗥𝗢𝗖 We have exciting news to share: on November 7, 2024, we at NKG entered into a landmark bilateral coffee marketing agreement with MIDROC Investement Group, the owner of the world's largest coffee farms managed under Horizon Plantations and Ethio Agri-CEFT, as well as coffee processing and warehousing facilities in Addis Ababa. The agreement is designed to improve coffee productivity and support the development of coffee plantations, making Ethiopian coffee even more competitive on the world stage. David M. Neumann, Group CEO, expresses great enthusiasm for this agreement:  “This agreement with MIDROC Investment Group feels truly special. It's built on a foundation of trust, friendship, and a shared vision to advance not just our companies, but Ethiopia's pivotal role in the global coffee industry. We're immensely proud to partner with the world's largest Arabica coffee farms, recognizing the vast potential of Ethiopian coffees in the international market. This collaboration allows us to showcase the rich history and unique story behind these exceptional coffees, while also diversifying their reach to new customers worldwide. As we've always done, we're building bridges between producers and consumers, but now on an unprecedented scale. This partnership embodies our commitment to fostering growth, sustainability, diversity and excellence in the coffee sector, particularly in a country as significant to coffee's heritage as Ethiopia.” We are very much looking forward to the exciting opportunities it brings for us and the worldwide coffee community! #NeumannKaffeeGruppe #NKG #coffeelove #coffee #ethiopia

For NKG, Dr Julius Wenzig, Environment & Climate Change Manager, participated in a track on the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Together with Robin Millington, CEO of Planet Tracker, Julius spoke on the growing importance of reporting requirements and standards to disclose transparently and act more sustainably.   “At Neumann Kaffee Gruppe, we view the CSRD as a valuable opportunity to enhance our sustainability efforts with unified EU reporting standards. While compliance requires significant resources, this framework empowers us to focus on our most material sustainability matters and fosters progress toward sustainability.   One of the highlights of the workshop was connecting with other companies as they navigate materiality assessments and their first CSRD reports. We discussed diverse approaches to implementation, especially as sector-specific guidelines and audit standards are still emerging. A lively discussion also centered on whether accounting and auditing firms are fully prepared to audit sustainability reports effectively and guide businesses with a pragmatic approach.” Dr. Julius Wenzig, Environment & Climate Change Manager   Looking ahead, we at NKG are progressing with our own materiality assessment and preparing to gather CSRD-aligned metrics across our group companies. These insights will shape our Responsible Business Program, ensuring it reflects our commitment and aligns with evolving sustainability standards.   Thank you, Julius, for sharing your insights with us! One for the history books! We had the incredible pleasure of hosting industry friends and colleagues from sister companies at the official opening in downtown Changning District. Per Chinese tradition, the lion dance was invited to bless the premises, signifying breathing life and good luck into the business. Among the attendees at the opening was Managing Director of Bero Coffee Singapore and NKG Asia Hub Jan-Willem Otten, accompanied by Chief Financial Officer SOK KENG TANG and Head of Supply Chain Management Shirleen Lee, both of Bero Coffee Singapore. NKG Shanghai is the Neumann Kaffee Gruppe (NKG)'s first office in China, aimed at serving the country's surging population of coffee drinkers by offering a variety of origins and grades. Thank you to everyone who attended, and we hope to celebrate more milestones with you!

100 Frauen, 100 inspirierende Vorbilder! Oktober! 🎉    #Leadership #FemaleEmpowerment #GenderEquality
